Just received my L30 replacement via DHL..directly from China (bypassing my distributor). Tested and noticed it doesn't get hot as fast and and high as the previous one. overall impressive response by Topping, which I did not put much hope initially .... I am happy.

Playing around the input and outputs while listening, I noticed that using Topping E30 as pre amp to SP100 as amp with E30 as DAC, on both he400i and 400se, the sound seemed to be better than just using E30/L30 combo. Somehow, the instruments and vocals more defined, and bass tighter. Is it...

Agreed - and probably explains why I am gravitating towards the 400se (despite them being cheaper by 20% vs 400i)

Hi Huckle, in my limited experience, my X2HR is a more neutral sounding but had more bass despite being open back. I did not have the sibilance issue, but if you have.. just do some EQ to reduce the highs a bit. The 400i is a bit more forward and definitely more detailed. but I have to say both...

Hi, wonderful pics..this is what I discovered when I took a pic of the driver's shadow using a LED torch. Thick dual sided magnet, compared to single sided (thinner magnet) on the he400i. I prefer the sound of the 400se...not sure why..will the driver make a huge difference?
