Check your preamp setting. If it is hidden and is set to a positive value, this very thing happens. Also check your eq settings, for similar issues.

The HE1K is more comfortable to wear, and requires less EQ out of the box (to my ears), has a pleasant sound too. The LCD-X requires more EQ out of the box.
