The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

Website says 13 ohms and yes that is more than enough power - likely more than 2.5 as much as you'll need. I've never maxed out my Mojo (Just under 1W at that impedance if memory serves).

A vote for the Chord Mojo for my portable setup with the A2C. Outside of super critical listening I can't tell the difference between the Mojo and the RME ADI-2 DAC... and it's tiny! I have the Xduoo XD-05 plus on its way too for comparison but the Mojo is much more portable.

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

One of those things I’ve noticed... flarex3 has complained about them more than everyone else combined. One measurement of a headphone is insufficient evidence. Subjective but to my ears they sound nice. Not perfect... but nice. To flarex3 they don’t sound at all... they 20% VAT. No EQ. No...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

Closed backs are generally not ideal at loud volumes because the sound pressure has nowhere to go. My set most certainly does not distort, clip, or sound bad in any way at high volume... your issues are again your own. My phone dB meter pushes 80dB and still they just sound... loud. Louder and...

Did you look at the head-fi FR graph as well done on far more accurate equipment rather than hanging on to the only evidence you have? Again... I do not hear any significant dip. A -20dB dip would be very obvious.

... the only common string instrument that commonly extends beyond 4k is the violin and it's rare that it does so consistently in music. In that review they mention using minidsp EARS and their FR graph is completely different than the one posted by head-fi which is done with much better...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

@flarex3 Definitely not how I’d describe them. You mentioned not having tried the filters. Perhaps try the filters? I’d skip straight to the white based on your description. If still no then talk to Dan Clark Audio. Their service is excellent. What was your previous and/or favourite closed...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

IEMs lack the feels of bass. Children are an excellent reason for closed backs. They also quickly show the biggest flaw of noise cancellation - inconsistent noises. Noisy lil buggers make it hard to hear the strum of every string. A2C has some pretty decent isolation. I have a hard time hearing...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

I concur. Different does not equate greater than. To my ear, the Clear sounded artificial and lacked sub-bass (impact?). "Tin-y" is how I described it in my notes though I can't imagine a headphone in that class sounding what I interpret as "tin-y" now. Probably just different tuning. Never...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

I feel like Ether CX makes a better monitor. A2C maybe with bass ports partially blocked as it has been warmed a bit imo.

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

I would classify A2C as warm but we're not talking Fostex warm. Pleasantly warm with neutral treble perhaps? Edit: There was a note from Dan on a previous page about a mod if you don't want warm. There are little bass ports that you can block or partially block. I remember someone mentioning...

The New AEON 2: It's The End Of MrSpeakers

First post on head-fi just to say... mmm Aeon 2 closed. I've decided to replace my Ether CX with the A2C. For monitoring purposes I'd probably give the edge to the Ether CX. It does such an excellent job of giving you a nice balanced sound but the increased bass on the A2C checks the last...
