TEAC UD-301
Hate to bump an old thread, but I've been using one of these now for 6+ years and I've been happy with it for mostly playback to my 2-ch stereo from my server using Daphile. Headphones occasionally get used, but this is mostly used as a DAC. I'm curious though, regarding the DAC portion, how...- billbillw

TEAC UD-301
More than happy with my new UD-301. I enjoyed it all weekend. It handled every format I threw at it and sounded great. I was surprised at the quality of the headphone output as well. Perhaps I haven't heard my Senn HD580 with great amplification in a few years, but to me, they sounded about as...- billbillw

TEAC UD-301
I just ordered a black UD-301. Supposed to be a factory refurb with same 1-y warranty. Price was hard to beat, even compared to used. Looking forward to setting it up. I'll be using it in my main 2-ch system with a headless thin client Dell/Wyse PC running Volumio. This is replacing a laptop...- billbillw

Klipsch promedia 2.1 vs. Swans M10
I had a set of Klipsch Promedia (the 4.1 variety) for many years. I was never really that happy with them. Recently, I overhauled my desktop system and picked up a pair of used Athena bookshelf speakers and powered them with a small cheap amplifier (the infamous $15 Radioshack Accurian amp). The...- billbillw

Software based RIAA EQ - part 2
I didn't realize the Voxengo plugins were necessary. I installed them. That got rid of most of the errors, except it still says "doesnt understand interp" or something similar. I'm still not seeing anything in the SPAN. I am using ASIO drivers and the latest Pathmix from EMU. Do I need...- billbillw

Software based RIAA EQ - part 2
I just can't get this to work. I have the EMU 0404PCI. Hooked the TT to Analog in. I got the lastest Max runtime. Opened RIAA with Max (it listed some errors in the Max window). Set the inputs/outputs. Did the reset. Still very weak sound. No bass. Doesn't seem to have any effect at all. Is...- billbillw

Software based RIAA EQ - part 2
I have to try this! I have a spare TT that I've wanted to hook up to my computer rig, but don't have an extra phono stage. This would be perfect if it works.- billbillw

PCI version of Emu 0404?
Well, I installed my 0404 last night and couldn't be happier. It seems works flawless in my XP 64-bit system and the sound quality is excellent. No problems getting Foobar to output with the ASIO drivers. Hight quality MSFL/DCC FLAC files to Foobar>ASIO>SPIDF>Entech NC203.2>LDMkV>Senn HD580...- billbillw

Pros /Cons of using Motherboard Coax Output to DAC
I thought I'd try that too. Took out my SB Audigy, activated the motherboard sound in the BIOS, loaded the drivers, and after all that, the stupid thing didn't work. Couldn't get a digital lock to my DAC using either coax or optical. Had to go back to using a soundcard.- billbillw

PCI version of Emu 0404?
Well, I'll soon have my hands on an 0404 PCI to replace my aged SB Audigy Platinum. Snagged one NIB for only $30 shipped. Gotta love the extremely rare occasion when Ebay comes through with a great deal.- billbillw

I really wish this forum had an ignore feature. This argument has outlived its welcome and nobody cares who is right or wrong. BTW, I'm loving my MK V! Combined with my HD580, the sound is fantastic.- billbillw

Review of Little Dot MKV Dual Mono Solid State Headphone Amplifier
I should be receiving my MkV on Friday if UPS doesn't let me down. This amp should already be broken in, so I better get some good sleep tonight, because my Friday night listening session may go well into Saturday morning. Hopefully my Senn 580 will sound better than I've ever heard them...- billbillw

PCI version of Emu 0404?
After sorting through 20+ pages of searches, I found some opinions from a few years back. Seems it was pretty highly thought of. On a side note: Why isn't it easier to search these forums? PCI version of Emu 0404?
Anyone using the Emu 0404 PCI card? I know many here love the USB version. I was thinking about changing my Audigy Platinum EX card out with one of these but wanted to check first. I can't really afford the USB version, but the PCI version can be had pretty cheap. I will mainly be using the...- billbillw
