FiiO&JadeAudio Over-Ear Headphones Discussion & Impressions Thread
Did you receive the balanced cable for it they advertised for buying if from AliExpress? Have heard a thing about it and I received the headphones yesterday. Btw made the mistake of trying them before breaking them in. They sound super bad until about 8 hours of break in time. What a difference...- Johnciaccio

Tin HiFi Impressions Thread
It's a different sound profile completely from the others. Some have said it close to Harmon curve but chopped off. It's a very popular sound right now. It's my preferred iem at the moment for shorter listening sessions but still want it wired.- Johnciaccio

DROP + THX Panda Announcement
Nice review. I think the big question is: Are these audiophile good? Or just mainstream consumer good. Seems like these are actually audiophile grade. Can't wait. Some are disapointed the amplifier can't be used with an external DAC- Johnciaccio

DROP + THX Panda Announcement
Thanks for the info. I watched Zeos review of it but it felt different then his other reviews. It sounds similar in some ways to Sennheiser "vale" but better extension. Took me a while to adjust when I first got the 650's but learned to love them. Unfortunately open back headphones are a no go...- Johnciaccio

When is the New York show? Even more important: When are they going to have a CanJam in Miami? Oddly enough it's not a good city for checking out audiophile stuff.- Johnciaccio

DROP + THX Panda Announcement
What I guess I am waiting for is a true audiophile type review comparing them to other closed planar headphones. Frankly nobody has even said what they actually sound like. Such as bright, neutral, v shaped, soundstage or similar to a certain headphone. Do they sound like the PM3? Like I said...- Johnciaccio

DROP + THX Panda Announcement
So tempted to back this since I was actually looking at the PM3. I really like the planar sound (using M560 right now) and a built in THX amp is awesome but the timing could be better. The thing is I am worried that they are being overhyped as Drop seemed to push hard on a wide variety of...- Johnciaccio

ZiShan T1 Hi-Fi Player Thread
Sorry stock. Have not tried rockbox yet. I wish someone did a detailed comparison. Measurements and all. I will probably try it out at some point just for the themes. :) All Zishan T1 the same but option of different DAC modules. All can use the rockbox firmware.- Johnciaccio

ZiShan T1 Hi-Fi Player Thread
The stock firmware has all kinds of tiny bugs. Play won't start on first boot until you tap the button several times. The eq is a mess. Sometimes it does not turn on. Half of the sliders are above 10k. Other oddities. Never had to calibrate the touch panel. It does sound really good. I use the...- Johnciaccio

ZiShan T1 Hi-Fi Player Thread
I used Rockbox back in the ipod video days. It's pretty basic. Has a lot of plugins though. I haven't tried it due to the reencoding. It's a shame they haven't found a work around. How's the battery life with Rockbox compared to stock?- Johnciaccio

Note 10 plus official sound quality thread
According to reviews the colbat is a big upgrade. I have a S10 with an actual headphone jack. It can run my M560 planars louder then m LG V35 (low impedance mode). The sound quality is actually pretty good. MQA is supported with UAPP. The Note most likely would have used the same setup if it...- Johnciaccio

Is the DAP dead?????
I bought the HUAWEI MediaPad M3 because it has a Ak 4376 DAC and audio tuned by H K . It is up their with LG phones for audio quality. Sometimes I prefer it as AK DACS tend to have a fuller sound the ESS DACs. Samsung and Huawei both have used AKG products and tuning. To say that smart phone...- Johnciaccio

Shanling M30 - Concept announcement
The main thing is the modular design so you should be able to find a combination you think is the best. If all you care about is what sounds best to you then you could try out some stuff and pic the best. this design just gives you easy flexibility in a small package..- Johnciaccio

Strange. I've never seen them and couldn't find them on the Shanling website. Must be blind. Edot: After a Google search for Shanling Monoblocks I was able to find some info from 2003!- Johnciaccio

ZiShan T1 Hi-Fi Player Thread
It looks like mostly the same basic components minus extra switches and different screen size so they should support the same formats. The processor converts the formats and sends the stream to the dac. Mostly want it for my Monolith m560 (planar) and HD 6xx. Shour Tape IEM, Tin T4, AS10- Johnciaccio

Shanling M30 - Concept announcement
Well the most expensive product they manufacture the M6 is only $500 on Amazon. They tend to make reasonably priced products. I can see the modules being expensive. They could have some basic DACs and amps and then license out the modules for others to add to it. I think a reasonable price on...- Johnciaccio

I hope the basic unit is low price. That way we can have something to start with and add modules as needed. Also the player/display needs to be able to tilt up.- Johnciaccio

Is the DAP dead?????
I also like to think of DAPs as all in one devices also. You can us some as a balanced DAC/amp. For a PC or a phone. The M30 that Shanling is working on even has modules for tubes. My M0 is small enough I sometimes forget I can connect it to my phone and stream Tidal.- Johnciaccio
