SONY NW-ZX2
I think the size of Hiby RS2 would fit your need. But what would be better is to consider dongle-like DAC/AMP such as Luxury and Precision W2.- BanC

SONY NW-ZX2
My subjective evaluation is yes, substantially. I have a Dita Truth cable, which has swappable plugs. Thus, my comparison can be considered quite accurate since the only thing that is changed is from 3.5 SE to 3.5 4-pole plug. I can tell you that the sound improvement is quite substantial. It...- BanC

SONY NW-ZX2
Hi. Just to share some information with ZX2 users. Fidue sells 2.5 balanced female => 3.5 balanced male adapter cable. I have been using it for a few months. It sounds great and costs just 30 USD. It is a simple, low-cost solution for those who want to try 3.5 TRRS capability of ZX2...- BanC

Reply to review by 'BanC' on item 'Sony Walkman Nw-zx2 128gb Mp3 Player Hi-res'
Hi. I own ZX2 and always use TRRS connection on this player. I find this to be a little secret treasure. It is a major, yet subtle upgrade at the same time. What I mean here is that it does NOT change the sound signature, tonal balance, note articulation or coherence. This is unlike shifting...- BanC

Cable fixing in South Korea
Hi. I moved to Daegu, South Korea some time ago. I have quite some cables that need to be repaired. Specifically I want to change either the connectors (2pin/MMCX) or plug (unbalanced to balanced) or both. Does anyone know someone or shops where I would be able to get my cables repaired? Thanks...- BanC

IMR - R1 Thread
If you are looking for a big step up and still want to try Hybrids. I suggest Unique Melody Macbeth (1BA 1DD) or Unique Melody Mavis (2BA 2DD). Both have excellent tonal balance and clarity, with Macbeth being relative more fun-sounding. But these are Japanese market specific models. Not sure if...- BanC

IMR - R1 Thread
Hi. Thanks for your suggestion. I tested it again. Yes, it was out of phase. Still timbres are not as accurate as I would want, though. Perhaps I need to listen to it for a few more days to get my ears adjusted to it.- BanC

IMR - R1 Thread
I have just got a B-stock IMR R1 Zenith for around 200 pounds. I decided to purchase based on several good reviews I read. I was disappointed, though. I did not like it at all. Bass, mid, highs all sound artificial and incoherent to my ears.- BanC

Onkyo DP-CMX1 GRANBEAT | Dual Dac | Balanced | Phone DAP
Considering it as a DAP, I think it is great. As a phone, it's not good enough. I really question if I would want to use it as a replacement of a smartphone on daily basis.- BanC

ACS Encore Studio New 5 Driver CIEM!
Yes. I am considering getting one. Still quite disappointed though. I expect a flagship product to be a well-thought-out product that has no such a simple flaw, since a flagship is meant to showcase what the best a company can offer.- BanC

ACS Encore Studio New 5 Driver CIEM!
I have to say that I'm not fully impressed with my newly bought ACS Emotion Universal either. Impedance is ultra-low. It picks up hisses from my ZX2 even much more than the very sensitive Ultrasone IQ which has been reported from several online reviews for picking up hisses. Another big regret...- BanC

Reply to review by 'BanC' on item 'Fidue A91 Sirius'
Hi. Would you consider A91 as reference-sounding? While Fidue advertises A91 as a reference-tuned monitor, it seems that several reviews mentioned that mids, especially vocals, are quite colored. At this time around the price has gone down a lot in Japan but I have no chance to try. It would be...- BanC

Unique Melody "Macbeth" & "Mavis" Hybrid UIEMs
Hi. I purchased a used Mavis some months ago from E-earphone Japan. I find it to sound great, although not exactly my preference as it is too colored. Tonal balance and coherence are perhaps the best among hybrids I have tried - indeed even better than Sony XBA-Z5. Bass has a good speed, size...- BanC

Reply to review by 'BanC' on item 'Ultrasone IQ'
Yes, compared to other hybrids - especially AKG 3003 it is relatively less incoherent. But of course compared to multi-BAs or single DD it remains less coherent. Still I like it. It remains one of the very few IEMs that I have tried that are technically capable enough to handle full-orchestra...- BanC

Reply to review by 'BanC' on item 'Ultrasone IQ'
I match IQ with Beat Audio Vermilion (pure copper). The sound becomes very balance, much less V-shape and much less sibilant. Indeed it becomes monitor-like. It still has some coherence problem - not in terms of frequency response but timbre and impact, as dynamic driver drives a full-body...- BanC

Meizu Pro 5 Smartphone
That's unfortunate. I found an interview with Sony ZX2's chief engineer. From what he said I believe it's the same system though. "Rochlin: Is the NE-ZX2 fully balanced from DACs to the headphone output? Yoshioka: The four-pole headphone jack has separate signal ground, yet is not a true...- BanC
