I'd like to hear more about this idea. What kind of earplugs did you use? The "musician's" type would be too long to clear the headphones. So are you just using the standard foam type? Doesn't this mean you have to cut the headphones up loud as heck to hear over the PA and the earplugs?

I am calling the shiny black material on top pleather. Once that came off, there was a soft padding underneath, (not foam at all) it was very much like a velour type of material. I was just assuming that this type of material could be under the skin of a lot of headphones.
