    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

Hmm, no, I don't believe you're to sensitive. Your ears/brains are just tuned to focus on highs. Many headphones have sibilant highs, some are just tuned to sound bright. The MSR7 have one of the most accurate highs, maybe even more accurate than A2000Z. I didn't listen to the HD650, however I...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

Never heard the Final Sonorus VI, so you would have to compare them and then decide. Only trust your ears and your head for the comfort of the headband. There is no easy way around it. Only buy blindly if you can return them back...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

Your ears are fine, that's the signature sound of the A1000Z. If they would have the highs from the A2000Z, they would be perfect.

True, nothing beats the IEMs in terms of noise insulation. Anyway, the MSR7 are not completely sealed, they have a hole on top of the cups, which lets the noise in and out. You can experiment with some blutack to seal the opening, but you will surely alter the original sound signature... You...

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I haven't used any headphones for gaming lately, but from what I remember you don't want bassy headphones to get the positional info you want. I would rule out the A990Z just because of the added bass, which may sound wobbly at times (unless you like big booms)...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

I was in the similar position, waiting for a good deal on the A1000Z, but got the 2000Z instead. Have to agree with others, your music taste might suggest the Meze or the A1000Z to be more suitable. A1000Z are warmer than the A2000Z (= neutral), but the treble on the A2000z is notably better. I...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

Glad to hear you like them!   I was primarily testing the A1000Z with edm, metal, rock and that's why I found them bright (was looking more for the closed alternative to the R70x). Also, didn't quite feel that treble magic the MSR7 have (and 2000Z easily surpass).   Can't remember...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

When I compared the A1000Z to the R70x, the treble on A1000Z gets kind of annoying. If you turn up the volume on R70x, the treble gets just about right, whereas the A1000z develops the "curse of brightness". I only had a chance to test the A1000Z at the store, so maybe your experience will be...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Hm, this one might be for the X2. A bit more warmth and wider soundstage might do the trick. However the R70x have certain quality that is good with live music so they might also work. Never tried hp on movies though.

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

If possible, always audition headphones before upgrading. Only you will know if it's worth the upgrade. The tonality of the R70x is closer to the HD600, but you get the bass, a bit better highs and also somewhat bigger soundstage compared to the HD600. Bass quantity: X2 > R70 >> HD600 Bass...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Fidelio is more fun, R70x more tonally accurate. The bass on the X2 has a bit more warmth, however on the R70x  it feels more accurate. Tonality on the X2 is a bit emphasized/boosted. The R70x sounds more natural. Prefer the quality of highs on the R70. The soundstage on the X2 is much wider but...

    Audio-Technica ART Monitor Series Refreshed: A2000Z, A1000Z, A900Z, A500Z

I compared the A1000Z against A990Z if it helps. The A1000Z are neutral with a bit less, but more accurate bass. The A990Z are somewhat V-shaped, aimed for multimedia. The bass feels a bit bloated and are in general more fun sounding hp. The A1000Z sound more accurate and also have better...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

OK, so I've compared the HP output of Xonar ST and Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 with replaygained music or music that is properly mastered (= no replaygain necessary). The Xonar on high gain (+12 dB) is a little louder, but the gain of the 2i4 should be sufficient (9-10 o'clock knob position). Because...

I could check it out with the Focusrite Scarlett 2i4. They probably use the similar, if not the same headphone output. About +10 dB of gain is nice to have.

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

+1 to thatonenoob. R70x is more natural and HD600 more neutral. It really depends on your music preference. I can enjoy the R70x, but get bored with the HD600 no matter how hard I try. Order both and return the one you like less. You might also check the AKG K712 (somewhat similar to the R70x)...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Hm, you really should audition both, since they sound quite different. R70x is like an upgraded HD600 with more bass and a bit better highs. The mids however, are better on the HD600. For rock and edm the R70x are a better choice. For classical music and similar go for the HD600. I prefer the...

Not exactly sure how the X-series perform. The A1000X and A2000X, as reported, sounded quite similar, whereas the A1000Z and A2000Z do not. They also seem to improve the A990 by taming the highs (less fatiguing) and bass (less bloated).

    Audio-Technica ATH-MSR7 Discussion Thread

The A1000Z are probably most similar to the MSR7. A2000Z are somewhat thin sounding, with less bass, seriously sharp but not fatiguing highs. A990Z are a bit colored, V shaped and fun sounding. Overall the soundstage is much bigger with the ART series - they almost feel like open headphones...

+1.   I've been enjoying Metallica, RATM, Faith No More, Fishbone, etc. on the R70x lately and they were superb. The earlier Metallica albums, which I've never considered to be an example of a well recorded albums, sound absolutely amazing. The distortion of the guitars feels so RAW and...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Agreed, it's not that the R70x are bad for classical, they just provide you with the bass that "might get in the way". The HD600 have a simple solution for this = no bass...no problem:).

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

Well, if classical music is the priority then go with the HD650. If EDM/Jazz/Rock music is a priority then choose the R70x. I consider the R70x to be more versatile for various music genres, while the Senn's are renowned for their midrange excellency. Comparing HD600 vs R70x, classical music was...

    Audio-Technica ATH-R70x - In-Depth Review & Impressions

I could only compare the R70x to the HD600, and I prefer the AT sound. If anything, the R70x treble is a bit on the low side. Not peaky or harsh at all and very comfortable for longer listening sessions.
