I wonder why it isn't possible for AT to use the same headband-frames from A900x for W1000X/A2000x and so on.- NoXter

There are no seperate drivers available anymore. You can try to find some broken DT880's for spareparts or you buy one and use your revox for spareparts.- NoXter

MS2000 or a SR325000 :D was a very special thing. I didn't liked it that much, but I can absolutely understand if other do. These Magnums, well, that is a lot of money for a better fabricated MS2 /SR325.- NoXter

Nice to hear that you like this mod! Quote: Thats a property of the modded superlux housings Nickchen used. Usually isolation and sound leakage is better.- NoXter

The problem is this kind of diaphragm on the backside of the driver. At that time I didn't find a proper material to imitate this diaphragm. The other difference to DT990/770 driver is the 3mm thick felt in front of the driver. That's the easy part.- NoXter

Quote: Correct. Quote: At least, Beyerdynamic uses the same driver for 990/880/770, but they are using different damping schemes. It is easier to transform a DT880 driver to a DT990/770 but its possible vice versa. ---- In a few days I will...- NoXter

The Beyerdynamic A1 have an impedance output of 100ohms. That tames sharp highs significantly. But I do not like the overall tonality with 100ohms. I prefer the sound signature with 0ohms output impedance. And thats what most headphone amps have.- NoXter

Hey Guys, Did someone tested the newer Audio-Technica pads which come along with A2000x and W1000x on the RP18? Actually I'm using W100 pads and thats pretty close to the W11 pads (except of wearing comfort).- NoXter

Do you have DT770 pads? It doesn't work without. About the felt: take a look in the household section of your supermarket or go to a store with stuff for handicraft. Polyfill could be a possibility, but I'm not quite sure if its a good idea to reduce the volume of the housings that much...- NoXter

Well, had the chance to spend some time with apatN's monster-housings CB. The treble was a bit too harsh for my taste, but you'll get 2 slices of my magic-purple-felt to experiment with. Well, some new cognitions: 1. when you place your bass-reflex-hole like shown in step 2.5, it makes a difference if you have following cloth still directly behind the grill or not. The bass-reflex-hole must be even bigger than 4mm when this cloth is still there. To avoid a...- NoXter

Maybe the solder-connection wasn't impeccable. Had the problem by msyelf as I soldered my 600ohm Systems. It worked and after a few hours the solder-connection just come loose. But Beyerdynamic is very obliging when there are problems.- NoXter
