    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

We had to wait 2-3 years to get that - check this thread! But resume for podcasts usually doesn't work, I check with my own podcasts, it's not 100% reliable like iPod Nano is. It quite often forgets. Also I think they never supported some of the audiobook formats?

    Shanling M0 - Smallest Hi-Res Portable Player - New Firmware V3.6

Please please PLEASE @Shanling can you sort out audiobook and podcast playing from the start this time? Rather than it being on the Never Never/partly done then not really? As I said back in this thread many years ago, massive audience for podcasts and audiobooks - even more now, and it's...

Sorry for the belated reply - but I use Dapper which you can find in the App Store. It's really good and works with iTunes, and you can create playlists it works from for those of us with massive libraries. Just setup as a generic DAP, you'll be fine.

Hope it lasts longer than mine - mine fell apart within 6 months. Utter crap.

So does Linux/Unix. Files and directories starting with a dot e,g. .config or ._Trash are hidden. Windows shows all files, regardless. But I turned that off as explained above, and the _explaylist dir didn't appear. And it doesn't start with a dot...

It is odd since OSX can have directory names starting in _ - I checked (but not on an exFat device). So it's either something to do with how this particular directory is generated by the m0, or some exFat/OSX incompatibility.

And it took me ages to get my VirtualBox working, but can confirm it's OSX - Windows10 sees the same directory fine, the playlist works fine. Something odd about that directory on OSX.

Even tried turning off the hidden files in this: https://www.howtogeek.com/211496/how-to-hide-files-and-view-hidden-files-on-mac-os-x/ and _explaylist_data doesn't show.

Hmm I was going be a Scrooge cos your reply was so snarky in tone...but actually just verified you are correct, annoyingly. Ex-Fat Samsung EVO 256Gb card here, with OS High Sierra on Mac. The directory doesn't show in Finder - no great shakes there, Finder sometimes doesn't show what it thinks...

Yes they think we want Audible, no, we just want bookmarking of podcasts and audiobooks - or any long mix or file would do. It doesn't have to have a special menu, or app, or anything. The Playlist stuff which think fewer people want is not that technically different, adding files to a...

*sigh* This has been asked for many times over the nearly 2 years this thread has been going! It's a feature I really want too, but it seems like we'll never get it.

THIS. Nail. Head. Completely. I now have AptX headphones, and even on my old AAC/SBC ones, I could hear a difference but definitely compared to the other 'cheap' DAPs I've tried, it's no contest. Original iPod is surprisingly close, cos I switch between those (lack of podcast/audioboook support...

Dapper for Mac updates: App to sync iTunes with your DAP

Case in point - I quit that sync, or tried to - the program spinny balled and froze, I did a force quit and now - won't scan the drive even after reselecting it.

Dapper for Mac updates: App to sync iTunes with your DAP

Well it's for times like this - sometimes my DAP (Shanling M0) syncs REALLY slowly, and of course now I can't 'quit' this sync, there is no cancel button. If I crash out of the program - or the very few times it's crashed - or quit and restart quite often Dapper either freezes or cannot see the...

Dapper for Mac updates: App to sync iTunes with your DAP

As an aside - in High Sierra I have this from time to time especially if the app is quit out of/frozen and restarted. I was wondering is there a way to resolve it without a reboot?

Amazingly something we agree on! Probably the only thing...also if it was like that then you could store the Favourites on the card and then export them somehow...then they wouldn't become useless if you switch cards.

It's better to not use the internal database anyway...it rarely updates properly (usually I have to try twice - first one always fails a low number, and then something like 4,000 or 7,000 or 14,000) and freezes/crashes a lot on play. I mean every 30 minutes. I'm only using a 256Gb card as well -...

Dapper for Mac updates: App to sync iTunes with your DAP

Do you know why Dapper sometimes connects really slowly, even to cards in the internal card reader? Checked the card in Disk Utility, did a First Aid repair, it's fine, no errors. Transferred GBs last night with the same card/adapter, was connecting at 2-8Mb/s, but now it's 0.5Mb/s even after a...

Another one waiting for some sort of bookmark / remember position. I don't care about Audible and other formats, and rewind/ffwd 30 seconds et al, but a proper resume that remembers last position would make this DAP perfect for podcast listening. As it is, I still carry my iPod Nano everywhere.

Updated and looks good. Didn't even have to go through the rigmarole of restarting the machine and clicking play many times for it to actually play a file on BT (yes under 2.5 this was my life - had to go find a file in a folder, click that repeatedly, then switch to 'Open All' - quite often it...

Why are DAP manufacturers ignoring podcasts?

Yeah none of those are small. The whole point for me is that MP3 devices are smaller than my phone! If they are phone-sized then I can just take my phone (but then battery life becomes a problem).

Why are DAP manufacturers ignoring podcasts?

I know the AGPTek doesn't, or I don't remember my cheapy (and rather bulky) device doing it, and it can't do AAC over BT. Maybe others...but there seems to be a lot of promising and not delivering with those cheap Chinese DAPs!

Why are DAP manufacturers ignoring podcasts?

As a podcaster (Radio Clash, since 2004) and the fact there has been a massive boom and revival in podcasting I'm amazed that how many DAPs don't have the basic auto-resume per track like my old iPod Nano did. I mean audiobook support as well would be ace, but really this should be DAP 101. We...

Still having problems even with the new FW, the BT usually doesn't work with any device, it connects but like those with car problems mentioned here it doesn't play (AAC or SBC). Oddly it gets really laggy and sluggish when this happens as if it's trying to do something in the background? I've...

What about a 3.5mm stereo to mono adapter? If you plugin a stereo jack, it might come out mono as the mono connection will contact both L and R. (I know for all you audio geeks out there it's not 'true' mono, it's basically the same channel left and right, but for practical purposes it'll work)...
