South Florida Mini-Meet Impressions - Back to the Future
So who knew the Pico DAC/amp (Dominat0r's) could drive K- 701s. Turns out it sounded great with the Focal Listens, too. Heaps o'headphones late in the afternoon -
Shure SE-420 vs SE-425 (long)
Quote: Well, I can only call 'em like I hear 'em. Some components seem to change a lot when they're new and some don't. In this case, I had the 420s handy for reference, so the change was pretty plain to hear. Sometimes, it's pretty obvious why something breaks in the way it does -...- carlseibert

Shure SE-420 vs SE-425 (long)
Back at CanJam '08 I made it my business to listen to every universal IEM in the house. Out of all of them, I liked the sound of the Shure SE-420s best. Since then, there have been so many new IEMs introduced it's impossible to listen to them all. This one or that one has sounded promising, but...- carlseibert

Fort Myers, Florida Meet - July 24th, 2010
Hi. I've been out of circulation for a while, so I guess I'm bumping an old-ish thread now. This was a great meet, which proves you don't need a mob of people to have a good meet. In fact, it was nice that everything was so mellow for hanging around and chatting. Even at that, I realized... -

Meet In Fort Myers, Florida: Saturday, July 24th
Hi Ron, If we're not there on time (early morning and I don't get along) please let the chef know there will be two of us for lunch. I have only the bridge to cross at this point, not the whole state, but still.... 9 AM! Thanks.- carlseibert

MEET IMPRESSIONS AND PICTURES - 2010 CanJam Chicago
At this late date just about everything's been said. I do want to pop in to thank everybody for a great meet. It was great people, great gear and a great time. My $.02 worth on some of what I heard. The Pete Millett designed Pinnacle in Todd the Vinyl Junkie's room was a real...- carlseibert

SRH840 impression
OK. Here is a picture of the "Mark II" Plug. As you can see, I cut a taper and relief in the body right at the remaining "flange". Now, it has a much better grip on the little boss that's down near the jack itself. It only takes a little less than a quarter-turn to unlock it, but in most normal...- carlseibert

SRH840 impression
I've had the 840s for about week now. Here's what I think I know so far: The first hour out of the box is pretty scary. Mechanical, congested - not a pretty picture. I think they start breaking in pretty fast, but they went in a picnic cooler with a bath towel for a while. After about 48...- carlseibert

Pricing update: B&H seems to have a memory lapse about ever having offered these cans at $160. I emailed HeadphoneSolutions, though, and they are offering them for $159 shipped (but not with the free PX100s. It's either one or the other). To get the discount, you paste "SPECIAL PRICE...- carlseibert

Hi, First off, a hearty thank-you to John and his crew for putting on one fine weekend of festivities! Vinyl - it's high res music you can actually get your hands on. High-res downloads are nice and some people even prefer them to vinyl. But of all that are available, if I bought every single one that interested me, it would be - maybe- two dozen albums. With vinyl, on the other hand... -

SoFla Meet March 7, 2009?
... and a good time was had by all. Thanks for doing this Mike! Some impressions that come to mind (or remain in what passes for my mind): The star of the show was Mark Reid's new tube amp. Everybody was so blown away listening to it, nobody asked if it was OTL. It had one transformer on...- carlseibert

Squeezebox and streaming format?
Hi Rederanged, Since my last post, I've only been able to steal a half-hour listen, just before work, when I could stop and start the stream from my server. So, in that less-than-ideal framework - amp warming up and glancing at my watch all the time - I tried to jot down some effects you...- carlseibert
