My AKG 7XX are much harder to drive than all of my other headphones- Sennheiser 6XX, DCA Aeon/Aeon 2, HiFiman 4XX, XE-4. The AKGs were my first foray into 'real headphones' but I never use them since I have my others.

I find the clamp force to be light and very comfortable. Tighter than Hifiman & AKG .but looser than Sennheiser. To me, they feel great - actually I don't really feel or notice them at all when I'm listening. Just tight enough where feel secure.

I have the A2C and the isolation is very good. I've only owned a few different closed headphones (Beyers, Sennheiser) but the Aeons have been the best for isolation and comfort.

I've bought two of those $20ish amps and $40 one. They all work great. Only the cheapest / oldest one is weak with demanding headphones.

Felt to the ear with foam underneath. It's my current favorite combo. Although that could change any minute :) But I think I have had that combo the longest except for my Aeon X open where I use the foam plus one notch white felt. I'm very treble sensitive which is a bit surprising at my age but...

I also use the foam first then the black felt. That combo, in that order, works really well for me in both my Aeon X closed and Aeon 2 closed.

Any particular reason your selling them? Did they not make the cut?

Yeah - I wish I had more actual data to provide. But maybe impedance is a factor since it's more noticeable on the 12 ohm Aeons than the 300 ohm 6XX. I just didn't think it be such a difference since they're small portable amps. I'm not adding any signal processing from my laptop - 2016 MacBook...

I have both perforated and standard pads for my Aeons as well as Dekoni plain sheepskin. I kept the plain Dekoni sheepskin on my Aeon 2 closed as I like the feel of the extra depth. But I prefer the feel of the DCA protein leather as it’s softer.

I have to give an update on my experience with Dekoni pads on my Aeons. I just got a pair of the Dekoni fenestrated sheepskin and the base & adhesive are different than the two standard sets of Dekoni sheepskin pads I bought. The fenestrated pads that I just bought have a much more sticky...

I actually don’t have a ton of music. I think my entire flac catalog is only 600-750gb. So having backups of that is not a a big deal.

Definitely get the 6XX. I have the 58X… and several AKG, and Beyers, and Dan Clark Audio, and Hifiman. The Aeons win for comfort but if I had to keep one pair it would be the 6XX although I do like the Aeon closed a lot. But the 6XX still wins.

Exactly my system too. But I keep the flacs on my dap… which serves as another backup :)

This is the stock fabric sheathed DUMMER cable. I’ve only used this a few times. I had bought a shorter cable for my setup so this has just been in the box.
