Oh, and a pillow that should allow for many earbuds is one by Purple. I've only done research on their mattresses, but those actually allow you to sit on an egg without breaking it - so I imagine a pillow from them would be good with many in-ears.

Not a HiFi solution, but the same Jaybird Freedoms I use for working out are of a slim enough profile to use in bed.

(It makes more sense than it looks like - the first option would be a transportable solution for the HD6xx, and the second would be just for desktop use, but would allow me to go portable with the Dragonfly and my ATH M50x)

What would your first thought be as a better pairing for the Sennheiser HD6xx: iFi micro iDSD (non-BL) by itself Dragonfly Red with a tube amp? (Possibly the DarkVoice)

Would that apply even when comparing something portable to a desktop, like comparing the Dragonfly black/red to a basic Schiit DAC?

Does every portable DAC/amp also allow for bypassing the integrated amp when one is at a desktop with a separate amp? Or does that vary depending on the portable - and is there a simple way to tell?

Stalking for years, joined a few weeks ago, but never posted here. Bought some Bose earbuds about 10 years back and that was my first intro to "better than what it came with" headphones. (They're still sitting somewhere - I think they sound terrible now!) Bought the ATH M50X about two years...

And the HD598, even without an amp, would still outperform something like the ATH M50x's? Or would this be one of those times where if one isn't using an amp, better to get the lower impedence headphones for quality alone?

Can I ask - is the iFi nano iDSD the same DAC as the micro iDSD, which I understand is pretty highly regarded?

This might be a long shot... But are there online EQ testing places where one can start getting a feel for which sound signature one might prefer? Obviously would not compare to comparing real equipment, but just to give one a starting point?

On a similar note about the DAC/amp - could I recommend the 598 to a friend that would not be using a separate DAC/amp, or better to send him to a different set of headphones?
