Feliks Audio Espressivo / Espressivo MKII OTL Tube Amp Impressions Thread
@Kike6685 , If you're seriously in to tube "rolling" and want to use planars while using the same tube types as the espressivo, the Schiit Lyr and Lyr2 are a great option. I use the Lyr2 when I'm at work as it will feed any headphone and is friendly to more tubes. I use the espressivo in my home...- mattrudy80

Feliks Audio Espressivo / Espressivo MKII OTL Tube Amp Impressions Thread
It's with the impedance matching on the output stage. Lower "Z" = higher current draw. Pairing the Espressivo as a preamp with a nice solid state amp solves the output impedance issue. The sensitivity is related to how well the headphones react to the AC voltage signal. *Edit Theoretically you...- mattrudy80

Feliks Audio Espressivo / Espressivo MKII OTL Tube Amp Impressions Thread
Amandas are planar magnet, too power hungry for the espressivo alone. I use the Espressivo as a preamp for my schiit asgard 2 with my planar headphones and it works great! The reason you're getting distortion isn't because of the sound signature of the headphone, it's the impedance and the way...- mattrudy80

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
Yes. The RCA clear top/side getter was rebranded as well as RCA branded. Using 12AT7 shouldn't damage anything, it just has higher gain. Many of us here have been using them for quite some time without any issues.- mattrudy80

I'd look into these, both have been recommended here and are a nice budget listen. https://www.ebay.com/itm/matched-pair-TUNG-SOL-JTL-6189-12AU7-WA-17mm-long-plates-D-getter-ECC82/254173603242?hash=item3b2ded65aa:g:zI0AAOxyrrpThuei...- mattrudy80

Here's a few that in theory could work, all single triode, but not 4 pin. 6AB4 6C4 6L5G- mattrudy80

Haven't tried it. If you could find single triode 6v ~150-200mA I'm sure you could find or modify adapters for it. Don't discount the RCA 6SC7, there's a reason they're at the top of the list on my profile page.- mattrudy80

Schiit Lyr Tube Rollers
I know this is a bit late, but the Tung Sol 6188/6SU7WGT and RCA 6SC7 are a great listen. I find the 6SL7, like the 6SN7 with lower current that the Lyr2 can handle have more acceptable options than the 6C8G, although there are a few good 6C8G too like the Tung Sol. I'll have to look through my...- mattrudy80

Sometimes I get a similar scratchy like sound when the tube pins get a bit of oxidation. DeoxIT works well, I use 99.9 isopropyl and a Q-Tip also with good results.- mattrudy80

There are a few tubes that are definitely can dependant. The Tele smooth plates are great with my HD600, but extremely uninspiring with Aeon Flow Closed using both of my setups. Using the Feliks Espressivo MK2 with the same tubes, there is a bit of an imaging change, but sound characteristics...- mattrudy80

Myself and @TK16 both have our favorite tubes ranked on our profile page. To gain some traction on this forum it is suggested to start at page 1241 as this is where most of the good tube info starts. Good luck! Edit: @jb77 also has some great tubes listed in his profile.- mattrudy80
