AKG k550 alternate ear pads?
Yep - just tried the Shure 1540 alcantara pads with my AKG K550 after I was not satisfied with the sound the standard round Brainwavz pads produced. My initial impressions for the shure pads are very positive. Most importantly they fit, but need a bit of stretching and careful "application"...- przemja

Shure SRH1540 Review
Hi All, Just listened to the shures 1540 on a range of amps and the main gripe I have with them is the slightly elevated bass. Originally I planned to pair them with dragonfly red but the bass is way too annoying for me in that combo. ODAC+o2 fares better in that the bass is slightly more...- przemja

Recommendation. Relatively neutral, closed back headphones (up to $500) as a step up from AKG K550
That's one way of dealing with this :) Indeed worth a look, though. Judging by the reviews AEON might be a better call than the T5, as I suspect the beyers might be too bright and possibly too analytical for me. So wait, basically, what you're saying is that, say Shure 1540 or beyer DT1770...- przemja

I might re-evaluate the budget a bit. Beyers DT 1770 would be within what I could spend, perhaps even a bit more if the sound is what I look for. I thought of Mr S Alpha Dogs, but they are hard to get for me at the moment (Central Europe - a few used ones in far from mint condition). But will...- przemja

I'm currently waiting for a new shipment of these to my local hi-fi store - will definitely want to listen to these. Any thoughts on how these compare to the Shure 1540 or, say, sth like the Oppo PM-3 ?- przemja

Hi all, I need some advice or recommendations for relatively neutral closed back headphones, up to $500 some basic info: sources: CA Dacmagic xs, Dragonfly RED, (coming up is the ODAC+O2) will play mixed files, Aiff cd rips, some streaming or mp3 music genre: rather universal, from...- przemja
