    RMAF: RIP :-(

I attended it in 2019. It was quite an amazing event. I'm disappointed and at the same time not surprised. They sent an email saying that masks would be optional for attendees and that exhibitors could put up signs to enact whatever health policy they wanted in their space. I would wager...

M3 set screws work well. Length is up to you. M3x8 or M3x10 seem to be have been the popular choices. You may also want to run an m3 tap in there before the screws. If the set screws get stuck and you strip the tiny allen sockets in them you will be up a creek without a paddle.

Fostex T50RP Incremental Mods and Measurements

I'm under the impression that the original alpha dogs had modified diaphragms. That is something that no one on this forum has attempted to my knowledge. Mostly due to ease of distroying the drivers. You can do the mayflower mod kit, or just get dampening materials and start experimenting. Alpha...

You can use the modded cups that I did with adjustable bass ports.

What's your favorite Fostex T50rp mod?

The mods can go as far as you want to take them, anything from a little tweaking with pad rolling, to complete transformation. I caution you though, T50 modding is a hobby. You may end up spending a lot of time and money on the mods. Tweaking and tinkering to make them the sound signature...

I use m3x15. if you want to close it more to reduce bass get a longer screw like m3x20 or m3x25. Alternatively if you can't find metric you can go with 6-32. You can even use a larger screw size like m3.5 or 8-32. No matter what thread you use, you will need to tap the hole with a tap for...

Facfox is another one that has gotten some praise lately in the open alpha thread. Check out the list few posts by FireLion.

I'll try to get some up soon. I've been photo documenting the entire build. I went with mmcx connectors.

I would recommend SLA or SLS printing for waveguides. They require a high level of detail and smoothness to work as intended. Unfortunately I cannot do them. There are plenty of online services that print and ship though. Just Google it and you will come up with a bunch. I used Shapeways for...

I have a Prusa i3 that I originally built from scratch in 2011 and I have upgraded it over time. It has a Wades extruder, e3D hot end and a decent heated bed. The frame is MDF and it has a RAMBO 1.1 board. I am running 3mm black ABS. It's a dinosaur compared to what you can buy today, but it...

I think the reason Mr Speakers decided to use ABS, is that it is easy to finish with acetone. It's super easy to smooth the ridges with acetone, lightly sand and then paint. Other materials like nylon are harder to finish. Lots of sanding ect. PLA would be ok for finishing, but like...

I have not tried Facfox. I have my own printers. I did 3 outer shells and 15% infill with the crosshatch pattern. I don't have a solid infill set to compare to. It would require too much effort to duplicate the build that I have exactly except for the shells. One thing that makes these...

The recommendations on page say: "Before assembly, line the cup with acoustic foam, such as Akasa Paxmate. Fill the cup with your choice of damping material. Alpha dogs used cotton, Alpha Prime switched to wool. Experiment and have fun.". There are a few accompanying pictures for reference...

I made my bass mod to basically make the open alpha the same as what is shown here. It wasn't my original idea, just a remodel to make it the same as the alpha dog.

I have done two sets at lower fill. 15 and 20%. There is a video of Mr Speakers on YouTube explaining that the FDM 3d printing process creates a hollow shell. Meaning hollow inside the walls of the cups, and this helps create the isolation and sound. If you look at a 3d printed object mid way...

I did not make the mod for the 2.5/3.5mm Jack. I changed the original to have the set screw adjustable bass ports. I posted editable (gnu public license) CAD files. Another thingiverse member remixed my files to do the 2.5/3.5mm jack mod.

What jacks did you use with the wood cups? 2.5mm? I'm trying to source components for my Vibro Labs X Wabi Sabi build. I have to have a detachable cable. I ordered the cups and I don't know what size the hole for the cable is (diameter, depth, enlargability, etc). Will a standard 2.5mm or...

Couldn't wait on the Vibro Labs tuning kits to come back into stock any longer. I found the Vibro Labs X Wabi Sabi cups on ebay and pulled the trigger. After seeing what FireLion and fleasbaby have done, I just had to. It's the logical next step for an RP driver addict. On that note...

Thoughts on developing an open-source diy headphone chassis

Are they any good? I have done some T50RP based cans (open alphas, wood cup varients ect) and gotten to the point of opening the drivers and doing mods to them. Really taking those to the limit of what they can do. I'm looking for better drivers. How do the TDS-16 drivers compare to the T50RP ones?
