Jazz appreciation thread...
In search of a new album to fall asleep to. For 2 years I've been falling asleep, nearly every night, to the same album: Alone Together (The Complete Legendary Session) - Bill Evans and Chet Baker. After editing out a few of the higher-tempo songs toward the end, it became my perfect...- soundhunger

Amp/dac for xDuoo X3 + new Vsonic G07 classic
Title says it all. Or most of it... I know there are plenty of threads on each item, respectively, but I'm interested in info regarding an amp/dac that pairs well with both. My main curiosity is whether a portable dac/amp pairs better with certain headphone or daps. Are there particulars to...- soundhunger

VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread
I appreciate the feedback. Definitely confirms my love of the GR07 Classic. However, I'm still interested in finding opinions on IEMs that GR07 lovers also love. It has to be possible. Perhaps I'm searching in the wrong forum...- soundhunger

VSONIC GR07 Impressions Thread
Looking for some help finishing this thought: "If you like the gr07 classic, then..." I can't put my finger on it exactly, probably because I don't have nearly as much experience with iems as many of you here, but I really like the flatness of the profile--the adequate and not overpowering...- soundhunger

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Fix: I got a replacement cable ($20 at Walmart... jeez these cables are pricey compared with almost anything else I've used.) It works now. Still think I'm gonna have Amazon's send me a replacement under warranty (just 5 days left on on the no-questions asked warranty) because I shouldn't have...- soundhunger

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
Funny... my issue is with my Mac Mini. Don't have another computer to test it on. I'll be seeing about a replacement cable tomorrow. If no, I'll return under Amazon warranty and see if the replacement unit has the same issue. I don't care to test on another computer because this is the one I've...- soundhunger

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
It's been on USB mode (not DAC). But I switched it to DAC and back to USB, and still nothing. I did find a work around by using a MicroSD to SD card converter for my SD card port on my computer, but I'd like to be able to just plug in the N3 instead.- soundhunger

IEMs similar to the vsonic gr07
I'm interested to get feedback on this same question. I've been IEM shopping for a few months and so far, the GR07 have spoiled my ears. Only after I returned them and tried cheaper chinese IEMs, as well as nearly double-price IEMs, I'm missing the GR07.- soundhunger

Cayin N3 Hi-Res DAP with AKM4490 DAC, apt-X Bluetooth, and Line, USB & Coax Out for $150
I've had this DAP for a few weeks now. I really like it. I'm no headphone snob (...yet?), and mostly just wanted something to start out with on my journey to discovering better music and sound quality. BUT... I'm having an issue with the device. The Cayin N3 worked perfectly up until... I...- soundhunger

On a mission to like jazz
I've been on my own Jazz journey as of late. The reason I joined Head-Fi was to find some decent headphones for appreciating Jazz. My happy-place as of late has been Chet Baker & Bill Evans - The Complete Legendary Sessions Perfect for relaxing. I read to it. A lot. Been searching high and...- soundhunger

CHIFI LOVE Thread-A never ending IEM-Heaphones-DAP-Dongles Sound Value Quest
Which foam tips fit the BossHiFi B3? I'm about to pull the trigger on these... I've currently got VSonic VSD3s and GR07 Classic... I quickly decided that I prefer the latter. Hoping to find something comparable/competitive, at a lower cost.- soundhunger

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
After spending some time with the GR07 and VSD3s, I've decided that I do like the GR07 significantly more. They've got a wider soundstage, less bass heavy (a plus for me), and I can definitely hear better separation and clarity. I'm not really well-versed in all the lingo, but this much I've...- soundhunger

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
Thanks for the recommendation. Care to elaborate? I've been reading up on them. I'm currently doing some test runs with the VSonic VSD3s and GR07 Classic. I feel like I'm getting a little closer to where I want to be. I'm not a bass-head. Which is why I'm definitely not keeping the VSD3s...- soundhunger

IEMs for Jazz, Classical, Acoustic...
Thanks for the recommendation. Anyone else? Looking for some more to compare... I've recently acquired the Vsonic GR07 that I'm comparing to the VSD3s... So far, I think I lean a little toward the GR07, mainly because the bass isn't as exaggerated. I'm still trying to get comfortable enough...- soundhunger

IEMs for Jazz, Classical, Acoustic...
I've been reading up on the FAH IV... what setup do you use for them? I'm gonna start asking everyone that from now on because it seems that everyone has different media players, dac/amps, etc, which can alter the sound. At least, that's what I've picked up from reading on this forum a lot. I...- soundhunger

IEMs for Jazz, Classical, Acoustic...
Finally got some IEMs and am finally starting to get what all the fuss is about. What IEMs would go best with natural, acoustic, music? For kicks, let's keep it under $200. Closer to $100 would be good. Perhaps an IEM/Amp combo? I like Jazz (Bill Evans, Chet Baker, Miles Davis). I listen from...- soundhunger

Best headphones for jazz
Ditto the request for IEM update on this thread... Especially more entry-level. I'm not quite ready to shell out $200 for headphones. But I want better Jazz in my ears!- soundhunger

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
As expected, I'm itchin' for the next bump. The VSonic VSDS3s have really opened my ear-eyes to that next level. I'm finally starting to hear certain quality that I've not heard before, and can differentiate between different audio file types. And silicone vs. foam tips (the ones that came...- soundhunger

Thanks for this reply. I was thinking of something to say but you took care of it. And I got a chuckle out of it, too. Would you say that the Spinfit's are better than stock silicone tips? I'm not opposed to silicone, if I can find one that has better isolation that the cheapo stock...- soundhunger

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
Update: I recently went ahead and got some VSonic VSD3s IEM's. My curiosity got the best of me. Initial impression: I tried the large silicone tips first (it's what I'm used to with my super cheap in-ear headphones) and I was really disappointed. Everything sounded really harsh. Bass...- soundhunger

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
So it's not just me! I've had some Spoon albums that I absolutely love--same with Radiohead--but both of their new albums just don't stand up to their earlier stuff. Compressed is definitely the word for it.- soundhunger

Hungry for a taste of better sound, sub-$100
Yes to the E1 and Fulla being my only dac/amp experience. With the PortaPro, SHP9500 and KTX being the headphones I'm currently testing with. I do head a difference between each of the headphones. A pretty big difference. It's getting each of them, respectively, to improve/change sound...- soundhunger
