I have a friend who had his Pro's repaired in October last year, but I'm not surprised they are not repairing them now, as it sounded like was where they were heading to with regard to the Pro models. I don't go along with the comments about these being built terribly. They are not at all...

I really like my Gold’s, they are very neutral transparent and clean sounding. Whether they are best for all the music you favour I don’t know. Though I do listen to some hip hop and think they sound great. Personally, I don’t like IEM’s or headphones that are tipped up in favour of particular...

I don’t dispute that cables can make an improvement, I was commenting on the Flares specifically as I think it’s a good cable having had one apart. The biggest issue is the difficulty in modifying the Flares with an MMCX so it retains the same physical layout as currently.

We still haven't heard from the original poster as to why he'd want to modify the IEM with a MMXC connector. As you've suggested though, let us presume its for sound quality purposes. Is adding another connector (the drivers are soldered directly to the output cables at present) really going to...

Nice work. But I have to ask the question why would you?! You’ve turned one of the most comfortable IEM’s into a really awkward looking and fitting par. I can’t see any benefit of doing that at all.

The BT module is the same for all the Pro's and it does have a microphone! Where did you see that it didn't on the 2HD? Either that or I've been speaking into my BT module like a berk for a couple of years and its my iPhone picking up my voice!

I’d also say try the audiophile foam tips first. You can buy them when the Flare sales are on and then they’re no more expensive than other branded tips. I do wonder if the feedback from elixberd is partly based on the fact he used those Comply copy tips. The Comply’s I tried did make the bass...

I’m sure some here will tell you how many cables they’ve broken on these, but I think if you’re careful you won’t have a problem. I’ve had 6 pairs of Flares since the original Pro and never had any issues. What I can say though is they’re dead easy to take apart so any issues is an easy DIY fix.

Actually, you make a good point about the BT module. I’ve only used mine paired with iPhone and a couple of PC/tablet’s. And on both I have volume on the device turned up to 100%. The fact is unless Flare have done something strange, you should always use full volume otherwise you’re...

Nathan comments on the Gold a few times in the review and him preferring it to the Pro / Pro 2. So why no review for the Gold on Headfonics? Surely the Gold is closest to the Pro 2HD so people here would be interested in those comparisons. I still don't get the high praise for the BT module...

It sounds like you've already found IEM's that give you this effect, which is good, but they have other limitations. In which case just try the Pro 2HD if you think it might work and let us know! If you're hearing this soundstage with an IEM it is clearly a psycho acoustic effect as its...

You seem to contradict yourself. Is the soundstage always small and precise or is it truthful to the recording?! If the recording has a large soundstage will the HD2 Pro, in your opinion reproduce it. Or will it always be small and precise?! If it does reproduce the naturally recorded but larger...

My comments FWIW. Firstly, a slight caveat in that I have the Pro Gold not the 2 HD and of your list only ever heard the EX1000 in comparison. But the Gold and 2 HD really are minimally different, have the same brass enclosures with similar if the not the same shape of driver exit at the front...

No worries. And good luck trying to find a solution. If you have a friendly audio club locally someone there might solder you a cable up, it wouldn't be hard. If I didn't have a large backlog of jobs to do myself, I'd do it for you! The reason you're finding all sorts of weird cables...

I can't really see why this is a problem, why do you need to see the module when its in use if clipped to a shirt? I always use the phone to control the tracks and volume, so need to touch the BT module. I've found they work fine with no microphonics either with the cables over the ears or...

I'm not sure whether turbulence is going to be much of an issue in the Flares, given that those driver membranes move a fraction of a millimeter. I think the path from driver to eardrum uses more horn theory, than other scientific approaches. As its about constant directivity, maintaining the...

No right understood, but looking at your measurements they're no worse. It depends on your own sensitivities I guess. I'm surprised there aren't any other Flare measurements too. I'd love to know what equipment they use themselves in order to develop these things. As you may have seen from my...

Just answering the other part of your earlier post. I know other manufacturers do use damping materials, but whatever anyone says they are invasive. Someone will probably prove me wrong, but I don't think I've ever seen a physical filter used on a Sennheiser IEM, I'd trust them not resort to...

Thanks for posting this, very interesting. So if I'm interpreting what you've posted properly, you're showing the raw measured FR of the Pro, and not using any target curve compensation for headphones? If so, then I don't think you'll hearing that FR at your eardrums, as the frequencies in the...

Its great that you've measured the Pro and the Gold IEM's. Can you post your FR curves for them here please, so we can all benefit from the information presented in them? I'd also be keen to know what equipment and methods you use for these measurements.

I'm with you in your opinion that there isn't a peak in the Golds, but clearly Chickenmoon doesn't agree! We all perceive things differently though, and without some measurements of these its hard to tell which of us has the correct perception. I do know though how much I like the balance of the...

You mean in your perception there’s a peak in the upper treble. Unless you can show some measurements to prove it I don’t think you can make that a statement of fact! You’re clearly way more sensitive in the upper treble region than a lot of people which is a shame. I personally would hate to...

Sounds like it would be worth doing a proper AB comparison. For me, though I've not heard the 2HD, I don't feel the need to at the moment, given how good the Gold is and how neutral the balance seems to be. I don't like to have a tipped up balance that accentuates the mids/vocals as I think...

The Golds certainly don't favour any music genre, I can confirm that. And though I've not heard it, can't see why the Sp1000 wouldn't drive them very nicely. Most of my listening of the Gold's has been via the Chord Mojo/Poly and through that they do sound excellent.

I can't answer whether you'd prefer the 2HD since its the only one I haven't heard. But I'm wondering what you mean by "more energy" as for me I don't really get that. I could see why you might interpret the Pro as having more bite because of the lift in the presence region. That is not an...
