@zorniki were you using the wired connection, or bluetooth? If bluetooth, reboot everything. If wired, you need amp

@Elzizo : he was referring to JVC Spiral Dots. They are the best sounding IEM tips in my opinion as well.

I can't wait until somebody pairs this kind of tech with real TOTL drivers, like one of Stax or Shure or Audeze's higher end models. The consensus seems to be the Nuraphone is excellent, but still aimed at consumers more than audiophiles.

That's a good looking head model in the pictures! I like the matte finish… this has given me the idea to get some matte spray paint and refinish my own ceramic head

Could you post pictures? ETA: so we can help figure out what's wrong! Not to point and laugh at the person with the abnormally large head :) why would you even think that?

This sounds like what happened with my SR-407. They had to be stretched so tight over my head I would get headaches. I don't know how I fixed it. I pulled both driver cups off of the headband assembly to inspect them, and then I put them back on in exactly the same way they came off (at least...

Stax heat sinks are serious business. The big ones in my 727 actually get hot to the touch -- not just warm -- after the universal feedback mod anyway. I've thought about cutting a hole in the top of the case to install a powered cooling fan!

Well, Stax 'phones only need teeny amounts of current to play. And according to this thread on stackexchange, a changing magnetic field, such as the one caused by your AC music signal going through the MM leads, can induce current flow in an "open" circuit, albeit very small amounts, but...

The mod is SO EASY if you are even a beginner at soldering. There are good tutorials you can find with a search. It took me about 30 minutes. The only thing I would add to the instructions is that if you get one with the older boards, the resistors you need to remove are laminated to the board...

The 353x manual says "Max. Input Level: 30V (at minimum volume level)". That's the only number that matters: don't exceed 30V. Anything lower than that is perfectly cromulent, so long as you're getting enough volume at the headphones. If you want to experiment, do you have a headphone amp you...

Stax started selling electrostats in 1960. That means we're 58 years into their dastardly 60-year plan to get all of the money. The plan was to place an electrostat in every household, so everyone would be way too engrossed in their music to resist them. It would have worked too, if it wasn't...

I'll join in on the Lambda Sig love-fest :) I agree that they have a unique mellow and airy sound -- ethereal is another good word for it. They're "low contrast," to borrow a photography concept. They're like turning on the blue-light filter on your phone screen, how your eyes feel instantly...

The funny thing is that I would describe the benefits of solid state amps in exactly the same terms as you guys are describing tubes! SS has a more direct connection to the music, it sounds more natural, whereas tubes are veiled and muddy and get in the way of the pure sound to me. That's an...

I'm thinking about replacing the earpads on my Lambda Signature Pro, because they're really old, but at the same time: if it ain't broke, don't fix it, and they ain't exactly "broke." They still sound fantastic, of course, even though the pads don't make a seal even a little bit (in contrast my...

Great review! Just what I was looking for. Dekoni makes the best pads IMO and you helped me decide between regular and fenestrated sheepskin.

Dekoni Audio Blue Review: Official Fostex T50-RP headphones

I just discovered these things exist, and Dekoni make the best earpads I've ever used. Is anyone in a position to compare the Blue with other Fostex mods like Mr. Speakers Alpha Primes? Those are my favorite non-electrostatic headphones. I also listen to EDM/hip hop, but I can't tell whether I...

What kind of headphones are these? I came across these pics in a google image search for something else, and the answer isn't immediately apparent, but they look awesome! So do the Sansui SS-100 later in the thread

    Audio Hunting

In case anyone is interested, the reason Goodwill thrift stores suck these days is that the greedy bastards had a billion dollar idea to auction everything that might be good at their own website, so they don't have to play by any kind of rules. Use at your own risk though, the deals aren't all...

CanJam Global 2018 Event Thread (NYC, Singapore, SoCal, London, RMAF, Shanghai)

Monoprice didn't copy Audeze, they imitated Audeze, by (presumably) designing a superficially similar but technically unrelated product in-house. From what I've seen nobody is suggesting the Monoprice units are anywhere near Audeze in sound quality. I'm sure Monoprice bought and disassembled a...

Hey, nobody forced you to choose a username with a "69" in it! I don't see anyone else here complaining :p Sorry, I couldn't help it! I'm not even going to canjam but I do like the nametag idea. I'll have to bring it up the next time one's on my side of the Mississippi. I was just opening the...

    O2 AMP + ODAC

@MrMateoHead that's extremely unusual to go through multiple ODACs. What kept happening to them? Are you one of the 0.5% of the population with a USB drive that makes the revA go unstable then?

    O2 AMP + ODAC

@Heitosj I know how you feel, nothing is more frustrating than getting your groove disrupted by your equipment! If replacing the jack fixed it for a little while, I'd bet that's still the issue. How sure are you that you soldered the new jack onto the board securely? How sure are you that you...

    Magni 3 Impressions

I don't see what an amplifier's class has to do with anything, are you sure it wasn't something different those amps all had in common? And what do you mean by "balance it out?" I didn't say the ATH-AD2K doesn't scale, I said it is very efficient and doesn't demand much from an amp. At 40 ohms...
