Yamaha YH-5000SE — a flagship from an orthodynamic headphones veteran!

Yes the Japanese version is not limited either. As I understand it, all but the US & Japan versions are “capped” as you refer to it. To be honest I’m not 100% sure if there are any other areas but I’m pretty sure, Malaysia, Singapore & China are limited output territories

The US version has no power limitation. The power restrictions are European and Asian

    McIntosh MHA200 Impressions

We had a customer come in last week with his Rag 2. I took a good listen. It was pretty good pairing for the money.

I’m not sure which way they’ll go. The McIntosh Group is under new ownership so predicting new products is not as easy as it once was. There is a prototype that is 100% tube but other than that I don’t know the future of it yet.

If I understand correctly yes you can only use 1 source unless you add a preamp that allows input switching

    McIntosh MHA200 Impressions

McIntosh would likely have both a trigger AND a button/selector switch for manual or automatic use

The prototype still has it however it’s not as tricky. I don’t know if it will reach the market with that feature but I recommended against It for this format of amplifier. I actually think that the amp should have a main in to use it more like a main amp. Leaving the impedance matching active...

    New McIntosh MHA200 Headphone amp

I don’t disagree the V2 is easier to drive but I still think if you listen at high levels you might want to audition the pair first before making the purchase

    New McIntosh MHA200 Headphone amp

It’s got a bigger connectors on them than you’d expect but the Tributaries 6P C7 (I think) is my favorite. I like it because it really did show a noticeable lift in the ease of energy. Almost any brand of consequence like AudioQuest and so on will help but that one by tributaries stands out more...

The Amazing Audio Research I50 integrated with headphones is way better than expected.

I’m sorry I just now saw this. With new ownership and restructuring going on this is still going to be a wait. Maybe 2026

I think it pairs well with nearly every easy to drive headphones. It doesn’t get loud on harder to drive headphones like the 1266 and similar headphones

    Liquid Gold - 2014

The Liquid Gold is getting old since there was still a Cavalli company. I’ve only seen 2 or 3 needing service for this complaint. The assumption it’s in the amp stage is consistent with these other units requiring service. My memory tells me these repairs were varied in costs between $250-$600...
