Dear Schiit experts. At the moment I have a Bifrost multibit and a Lyr 2. For the loudspeakers a use the Lyr as preamp. In the future a want to improve the setup. The focus is at the headphones. Now my question: what is better sounding Freya with Jotunheim or a Mjolnir?

You have to slide the gray frame out first, then remove the board. When you assemble it again, you start with board. Then put in the frame. You will have absolutly no problems alling the LEDs. I posted this already in this thread with a picture showing the screws which have to be removed first.

I just installed the USB 5 update for Bifrost. I did it in a different way as seen in the tutorials here. If you watch the repair video of the optical input at youtube, you see, that the grey frame is slid out before the board is removed. If you do it this way you have absolutely no problem...

If you would buy a complete new setup would you use a Saga with a Joti or a Lyr? Has anybody already tested the Saga+Joti against a Lyr?

Ok you have indeed. Did you tried to use the Lyr as a preamp for the Jot? I seems to work fine with the Mjolnir.

You think the Jot ist better than the Lyr? Which tubes are you using?

Hi,   I have a Lyr 2 and the HD 700. I am considering changing to a balanced system Has anybody tested the Jot with balanced and SE in direct comparison? Is there really a big differnence compared to unbalanced HP?

Has anybody an idea why there will be no 12V trigger at the new preamps? Jason didn´t explained why he decided not to have one.

Some thoughts about a HT bypass. I think a lot of people who buy schiit products would benefit because they use strange and not so common setups. But with both preamps a HT bypass can be achieved with software. Just switch in the passive mode and set the volume at max. They use a relay switched...

I am surprised that the pre amps are not Lyr and Mjolnir with an input switch and a remote control. Especially I am surprised not to find a hybrid with the tubes in the first gain stage. Why did they move away from the E88CC tubes?

I recently bought these at ebay. I am not sure of the production year. Is it 1966? They are still in the "break in" phase after that a review will follow.

It seems to work in europe also.

Or try some new production tubes, they are better than a lot of people think.

I didn´t expected the 1973 to be as good as the 1974 ones. The 1973 model doesn’t have a single wire post; the tube is apparently different from the newer model. Maybe the tubes I get were not unused. I didn´t found a review of the 1973 tubes, so I wanted to try them and share the experience...
