I find the balanced 4-pin do sound very different compared to the unbalanced, be it HD800 or HD800S, for me its just better, much better. 'I've heard many fine headphones in my time on Head-Fi – including the LCD2 and 3, top line Grados, and many others – particularly at our local meet. For me...- choccoyote01

Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread
I owned all 3. Sold the LCD2F without hesitation. IMO the LCD2F is a mess in the treble. HD800 is definitely the way to go if you know how to EQ or mod or... If you want the planar sound of the LCDs, I recommend getting the pre-fazored LCD2 2.2, or any LCD3 versions.- choccoyote01

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
I've seen somewhere the Dragonfly Red paired with the HD600. It says something like it has enough power to drive them perfectly. As I own both HD600, HD800 and the HD800S, I can say if the HD600 works well on the Dragonfly Red, the HD800 will, same goes to the HD800S. I used to own the...- choccoyote01

The Centrance HiFi M8 thread
My HiFi M8 is experiencing problems with charging, it took 9 hours for it to be fully charged. Is that normal? Besides, the charging port seems to be very shaky (not fixed in place) when u try to move it.- choccoyote01

Why the Sennheiser HD598s are considered the best headphones in the world. Sennheiser HD598 review.
Is it just me or the HD598 are quite similar in terms of overall sound signature (except the bass of course) to the HD800. So similar yet so different probably because they are of totally different league and technology.- choccoyote01

To my ears, the fazored ones also sounded very messed up in the treble despite what people had been saying about the improvements in that region. To me, its a downgrade, pre-fazored sounded more coherent in that region and as a whole.- choccoyote01

Sennheiser HD800 S Impressions Thread (read first post for summary)
Just my 2 cents, the HD800S has +-2dB lower treble proportion to mids and bass compared to HD800, giving them a more easily acceptable sound in general. On the other hand, some vocals on the HD800S sounded weirdly closer to my ears in an unnatural way. Probably due to the HD800S having a very...- choccoyote01

Post your EQ settings for your headphones
After a year of testing, this still worked the best for HD800. Peak filter: 20Hz, +4, 0.9 Peak filter: 6800Hz, -2.5, 5 IMO the HD800 is one of the best headphone out there to EQ, as it is almost spot-on the perfect neutral-bright sounding headphone, just 1-3dB off here and there which is...- choccoyote01

Review by 'choccoyote01' on item 'Sennheiser HD 800 S'
Difference in terms of sound: 1) If you like the HD800 but somewhat struggling with the ringing treble, this will be perfect for you. Its still a bright sounding headphone, with very similar sound signature to the HD800, but with the peaks trimmed-off. The treble on the HD800S is smooth and...- choccoyote01

Why don't more people use EQ to get the desired sound?
However I'm using the CEntrance M8 which might have the power to do that ? Besides, didn't know reducing gain could cause clipping. I've only experienced clipping when boosting.- choccoyote01

HD600 vs HD650 (Edit: vs Fidelio X2) when used with an AMP and DAC?
I've rebought the HD650 3 times since I started the journey 4 years ago. A very stellar headphone overall. Though i got a feeling that the HD600 will sound better and cover wider genres (based on the frequency response curve). Afterall a high-shelf EQ of negative gain on the spectrum could give...- choccoyote01

Probably a new EQ approach in improving sound of HD800 and perhaps Alpha Prime...
It's my first post. Lets just start with HD800 and Alpha Prime... So it had been a long way, I ended up with my current humble setup: - Lossless up to 192/24 - JRiver Media Center - CEntrance HiFi-M8 - HD800 I'm aware of many approaches in improving the sound of HD800 for general...- choccoyote01
