You're effectively doing nothing with that felt. The felt mod is covering the central hole (which should be covered to stop dust crom entering the voice coil). Inifist cut ovals into their felt to partialy cover the hole.

Finally got my pair! My girl visited her parents at home in China and brought me back a pair, my god are they beautiful and hands down the best Xiaomi earphones yet! As a bonus, mine don't have any driver flex either. So happy with these.

Well this is in comparison to my HD598, which isn't bass heavy in the slightest. I prefer the vents open, also. It just sounds like something's missing with the vents blocked.
