    AKG new headphone K545?

The Sony mdr-v6 is really only good for studio use and mixing. Any 'music' headphones will make music sound much better. That said, the akg k545s don't sound v shaped to me at all. It actually sounds a bit lacking in the bass department.

Looking for new over-ear ANC headphones. QC35 alternatives?

yeah, I did read all the reviews (pros and cons) and still went ahead and got the zik 2.0 mocha color. I also got an extra battery and hard case (link below) because it only comes with a flimsy pouch. I have to say these, after going on a trip with them, they are now my favorite headphones...

Looking for new over-ear ANC headphones. QC35 alternatives?

The Sony mdr10rnc-ip are pretty good. The black version on Amazon is around $250 but the white version is only around $70 ATM! Not sure how long they'll last. Alternatively you can find the parrot zik 2.0 for around $165 if you dig deep. (Albeit the colors might me orange or yellow). The anc is...

iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade

"This may indicate that in the adapter no separate D / A converter is seated, but the audio signal is already transmitted in analog form via the Lightning jack. Since the Lightning chips with their remote site in iPhone / iPad can each negotiate in the cable, which is transmitted, that would be...

All speculation until someone actually finds a DAC in there

    Apple ditching 3.5mm jack

Probably to make a DAC-less cheap lightning to 3.5mm adapter so people wouldn't freak out.

    Apple ditching 3.5mm jack

Of course it's all educated speculation at this point but the fact is that there IS already a DAC on the new iPhone. The same DAC that was on the iPhone 6s so it makes sense to use that to push analog thru lightning. Especially since there are 3 audio amplifiers on iPhone 7.

iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade

I think we'll see that more now that apple will open it up to 3rd party accessory makers. The interesting thing that makes me believe the lightning adapter as just a pass thru is the inclusion of the same audio chip in the iphone 7.

iPhone 7 Will Revolutionize Portable Audio for the First Time in a Decade

Well, it looks like the new iPhone 7 (and 7 plus) has the same audio chip as the iphone 6 (which is reassuring for me). Along with THREE amplifiers. Two for each of the stereo on board speakers and one for the lightning output. It seems that the lightning to 3.5mm adapter is just a 'pass thru'...

If this change results in having better sound quality, I am all for it. We shall see. Notes: The adapter (lightning to 3.5mm) will be included in the box. You can also buy it separately for $9.00 from Apple.

    AKG new headphone K545?

Two completely different headphones in every category. The X2's are open, bassy and definitely NOT portable. These are closed, neutral-ish and portable. Can't even compare.

    Sub-$250 Closed Headphones Recommendation

Virtually any headphone maker has a closed-back design. There are so many of them. You have to start by the process of elimination. Figure out what 'sound signature' you prefer and cross out all the ones that don't belong to that category until you end up with a handful to choose from. Based on...
