We actually tried to use the DAC in the HA-2 but couldn't make it work. We ended up using the head out on the AK Jr to the line in on the HA-2 and it sounded really good.

Plastic? The WA7s have solid glass on top. Not sure if there is any plastic and they don't get too hot anyway. I put some NOS Mullards CV4003 in the WAtp and love the sound.

I do prefer XLR out and only need one program or input to work with both sets either by switching or just turning to volume down on the variable side. The cost isn't incredibly important to me, I'll spend what I need and still may look at the Mcintosh if it's the best option.

I didn't get the Ethers yet but I did get my Fireflies WA7d/tp so I will pack those up tonight. They aren't very broken in yet but I do have electro-harmonic tubes and Mullards in the tp.   See you tomorrow.

I have the XMC-1 in my TV room and love it for HT and 2.1 listening. I think the great sound has more to do with DIRAC.
