Headphone Driver Lottery?
Is there a lottery with headphone drivers, similar to processor chips or monitor panels, where every one is a little different? I had two pairs of AD900x's. I swear the new one I got has less low-end than the last one. Also, this might explain why some people describe things about certain...- Draulius

AKG K7XX, Unsatisfying sound.
I had the AD700 and preferred it too, even over the K712. Not worth the price jump at all, so I got the AD900x instead.- Draulius

[REVIEW/COMPARISON] ATH-AD900X vs ATH-AD1000X vs MDR-MA900 - It's STILL over 900!!!!
If it matters, I thought the AD1000 had a bit harsher highs than the AD900x.- Draulius

[REVIEW/COMPARISON] ATH-AD900X vs ATH-AD1000X vs MDR-MA900 - It's STILL over 900!!!!
The imaging is good enough and much more immersive because it's in a larger space. You should be able to judge the distance of sounds better on it too because of this. The AD line is known for forward mids, which I think can be a plus for gaming.- Draulius

[REVIEW/COMPARISON] ATH-AD900X vs ATH-AD1000X vs MDR-MA900 - It's STILL over 900!!!!
I've listened to a lot of harsh sounding headphones. The AD900x isn't one of them, and I greatly preferred it over the HD598 and SHP9500 for the soundstage and mids. Good comfort too. I even think there was more bass, but I'm not sure, and they're all bass light anyways. If I had to pick one...- Draulius

[REVIEW/COMPARISON] ATH-AD900X vs ATH-AD1000X vs MDR-MA900 - It's STILL over 900!!!!
AD1000 has a more forward sound and no angled drivers. It has cleaner treble and more clarity overall, and better imaging but in a smaller soundstage.- Draulius

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I've personally compared the HD650 with most well-known open-back headphones $500 and under. This includes the HD600, HE400i, R70x, AD1000x, Fidelio X2, K712, SRH1840, HD700, and DT880/DT990. Am I crazy to still prefer the HD650 over all those? Please tell me I'm not the only one. It has a...- Draulius

Audio Technica ATH-AD900x Impressions Thread
They're similar but there are some differences. The AD900x is still a bass-lite headphone, but it has a bit more bass than the anemic AD700, and you can actually feel that it's there. The highs are less "smooth" and sound more like standard treble which helps you hear details better. The mids...- Draulius

Audio Technica updates their open headphones "AD" Series: AD2000x, AD1000x, AD900x, AD700x and AD500x
I already have a headphone for music though, the HD650. So purely for things like gaming, the AD700x would be superior? Or do you think the AD900x would be more immersive with it's extra bass?- Draulius

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
Is the HD598 different enough from the HD650 to use it as a gaming headphone when I'm not using the HD650 for music? Or would I be better off with something like the AD900x? For larger soundstage and positioning.- Draulius

The Beyerdynamic DT880 Discussion thread
Quote: So they have somewhat similar soundstage, thanks for clarifying that. One last thing, how would the HD650 compare to the DT880 for things like rock and electronic music? Would the midbass on the HD650 help them win with those genres?- Draulius

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
Neutral headphones just might not be my thing, since I found the HD600 too cold overall but found it's more fun brother HD650 very enjoyable. I could also not be used to planar sound. I'd never call the HE400i intolerably bright with the O2 though. With headphones like the HD700 and DT990...- Draulius

Hifiman he-400i Impressions and Discussion
When I first listened to these headphones on my O2 I thought they were a bit dark. Is there a mod I could have done to brighten/open these up a bit, maybe 100% velour pads instead of the stock Focus pads? And perhaps removing the dust filter? Let me know if this would improve the sound more...- Draulius

The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread
How are the mids on this headphone? I like headphones with more forward than neutral mids where the vocals are very clear, like with the Audio-Technica AD series or Sennheiser HD6XX for example. Basically, how does this headphone handle vocals?- Draulius

Between the AD700x and AD900x, which has the largest soundstage? I've heard the AD900x has more bass which could sacrifice soundstage.- Draulius

Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread
I'll be trying out the HD700 soon and share my feelings. I've listened to the AD700 for years without fatigue which is a rather bright headphone, but not very bright like the DT990 for example. I think as long as it's not as bright as the DT990 I should be fine, but we'll see.- Draulius
