Essence STX II + Dedicated Amp or DAC/Amp combo?

Heya guys, your beloved Swede is back! So I've thought about for a long time if my current setup is really "optimized" for its usage. I am currently rocking a pair of Paradigm Monitor SE Atom speakers and a Klipsch R-12SW sub paired with a Pioneer VSX-922 (used the receiver for almost three...

Xonar Essence STX II - Amplifier setting?

So I use whatever setting suits me the best? I won't affect the sound that my headphones produce that is? I did disable my onboard audio when I installed the STX and I am also (and have always been) using the Unified Xonar Drivers. Much superior to the ones Asus has made. I also quite like...

Xonar Essence STX II - Amplifier setting?

We meet again, PurpleAngel. Would you just be so kind to explain why I should set it at the highest gain setting? Even though when I already use a really low base volume with the medium gain setting? I also know that compared to other headphones, the DT990's are relatively easily driven as well.

Xonar Essence STX II - Amplifier setting?

Hello, wonderful Head-Fi:ers! Was just curious, I've got my DT990 (250 ohms) and running them through a Xonar Essence STX II. I have always used the "High gain (+12dB for 64~300 ohms)" setting but using low overall volume in Windows. So what I was wondering is if I should lower it to the...

    Upgrade over Monitor Audio MR2?

Hello everybody! Long time no see :) I've had my MR2s for a whole year now, and I don't believe I will upgrade anytime soon (money lol), but I was just curious... if I was to upgrade speakers between a 200-400 dollar-ish range (remember, I live in Sweden where we got high taxes and not...

Burson V6 Vivid and V6 Classic Discrete Audio Opamps Discussion and Reviews

Review of the V6s Hi, You may have seen me in my last review, of the V5i op-amp. And if you saw it then you know that it was terrific and a mind-blowing experience for me, by just changing one part, with the dimensions 2x2x2 cm, the whole experience itself can change. I thank Burson Audio for...

In what way should I connect my PC to my Pioneer receiver?

Btw, just another question if it's ok (so I don't have to start a new thread)? If you remember, I said that I'm using the Monitor Audio MR2 as my fronts on my desk, right? So the obvious choice would be to get the centre channel from the same series, but here's the thing; it's about half the...

In what way should I connect my PC to my Pioneer receiver?

Really? I'll have to check. Thanks a lot for warning me, appreciate it.       I know I've barely given you any info on my setup so here it goes:  I've got Monitor Audio MR2 bookshelf speakers on my desk, next to my display on both sides. Then, because the bed is right behind me (got a...

In what way should I connect my PC to my Pioneer receiver?

Ok, that I can do.   And I bought a used one. I got it for a mere 130 dollars or so (it's 7.2 btw). Here in Sweden we barely have stuff like that around, DACs, Amps, Preamp. All of those are like a rare collection here.  So this was the best route for me to choose as I will expand later on. I...

In what way should I connect my PC to my Pioneer receiver?

Ok. Thanks for clearing that up. I'll stick to HDMI then! And, I think you missed the part about me barely having any money left haha. But I would love to, believe me :) . And I did also mention that I'm using the sound card for my DT990 (250 ohms) and I do love it indeed. So wouldn't remove...

In what way should I connect my PC to my Pioneer receiver?

I see. Then perhaps, I will stick with HDMI then. Oh another question, randomly at times, I hear stutters. Do you know why that could be? Like maybe once every 10 min or something, don't mind it but just asking if there's a fix?

In what way should I connect my PC to my Pioneer receiver?

Heya guys!  To begin with, sorry if I started this in the wrong section or perhaps even forum. But I love both you guys and your expertise so this would be an acceptable exception. c: Okey so in this instance I've hooked up my PC to my receiver by HDMI. But I was thinking, even a Xonar Essence...

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

Yeah I'll try to stick to 6 ohms thank you. I decided that I'll buy bookshelf speakers and perhaps a sub and then later on add speakers. Sounds like a plan? That way I'll spend a nice amount of money on each and get good quality ones as well

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

I would honestly lnly buy a 5.1 package if it's worth it. In Sweden the Yamaha package you mentioned costs 180 dollars and I would want to spend around like 500 dollars on the whole setup if possible. I do want quality :) . And the Klipsch speakers... dont even bring them up as the pair you...

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

I know they have - though some stores don't have everything they've created. Sure, could probably ask them if they could order them.  And the Pioneer receiver was used haha. Saved like 500 bucks cause of that

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

Thanks alot for your help, I really appreciate it but I've decided either way to just buy new speakers. Though it would be really helpful if you/someone could recommend me 5.1 speakers under 500 dollars. Or bokshelf speakers (a pair) under 250 dollars.

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

Those are the speakers. Got 4 of them plus 1 center and 1 sub which packs alot of punch actually. Still nothing I can do though? cause new speakers will cost more than the receiver itself and yet I dont want to go all out cheapo on the most important part. Barely got money for christmas bruh

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

Just now I got the VSX-922 for a cheaper price so went with that. This is what it says on its datasheet: 150 W/ch (6 ohms 1 kHz 1 % 1ch Driven) › 105 W/ch (20 Hz – 20 kHz, THD 0.09 % @ 8 ohms FTC). So all the info we get is apparently that it plays 6 ohms per channel?  And I've read...

2.7 ohm speakers on a Pioneer receiver?

So recently I found a pair of good old 5.1 setup, those Sony home theatre all in one thingy. I really like them, they do sound quite nice but they need a new receiver 'cause reasons I'm too lazy to type this late a night heh. I'm thinking of getting a Pioneer VSX 920 but I just found out that...

    Keep hearing static noise...

I now have both changed the gpus pcie slot and changed the molex connector and so far I haven't heard anything I think. I'll post again as to update you guys if it really works. Thanks for all the help so far! Really appreciate it.

    Keep hearing static noise...

Thank you, for taking your time to write. I thought of that as well. I just moved the gpu to the second pcie slot as well as change to another molex connector. I haven't noticed anything yet but we'll see tomorrow. If it's still there I'll try to change headphones.

    Keep hearing static noise...

No. I am running my DT990 directly from the sound card. And also, I don't believe the problem would be the cable, to be honest. Don't have an argument but I still do not believe it is xD   I think the reason I put them like this was because the second PCIe slot was/is dead. But I'll try again.

    Keep hearing static noise...

The only cable that's connected to it is a 6-pin to Molex. Should I try to change the cable?   I have a GTX 1070 (that consumes around 120-140w under load) riiight underneath it. There's like a 5 mm headroom between them lol.    No, I am not :) .    Just to add: after reinstalling the UNi...
