I've just upgraded my Hugo 2 after 5 years to a T + A HA200 headphone amp/DAC but I found the Hugo 2 had a leaner Chord 'house sound' which didn't suit the Utopias OG in the bass frequency. Good otherwise. IMHO the Utopias benefit from a warmer pairing than the Hugo 2.

Sorry I've been out of touch recently. You cannot convert a non-Balanced cable to Balanced with an adapter, you will need to buy a Balanced cable. You can use a 2.5mm Balanced cable with the N8's 4.4mm Balanced output if you use a 2.5 to 4.4mm adapter but it's nowhere as neat as using a Balanced...
