So i was thinking about magni 3 + modi 2, but wondered if i should hold of and wait for modi 2. What tells me that modi 2 won't get a upgrade is that they changed the modi 2 to brushed alu finish as well which wouldn't make sense if modi 3 was around the corner.

Is there any reason you don't have power on / off switches on the front? (and possible gain switch too) Especially on the Jotunheim and magni.

I own the nighthawk and i would say that its a upgrade to the X2.

Currently i own HD700, X2 and nighthawk. They all play great without an amplifier. But ive been looking at hd600/650 (650 more so) but with those id need to buy an amp. Im not able to listen to them before, so will it make any sense to go out and spend 400 euro for a amp and a pair of hd650?

Dont get the hd650. Theyre basically the same in terms of comfort.   I really disliked the 650/600 in terms of comfort. However i got the hd700 which is the most comfortable headphone ive ever tried. SO id suggest you too check them out.

Just reicived my HD700 and been listening to them all them. Previously ive used the X2 but i've been on the lookout for another pair since i know there is better stuff out there. Bitten by the hifi-bug i suppose.   With the HD700 i can say im happy and that ive found a balance. Next step up...

Is there any deals for nighthawk in europe atm? I've seen the very attractive US price, but with import duties, VAT etc it become to close to EU retail.

I'll start of then. My interest in headphones just started in december again when i got a deal for hd700 and x2.   Currently the Audioquest Nighthawk looks very interesting and i'll eventually look for possible another can in the $500-1000 range.

So with a new year upcoming, there will be plenty of opportunities to buy new phones.   What headphones (and/or amps) do you plan/wish to buy in 2017?

Funny how everyone is defending the company. No one is saying the HE-1000 is a bad headphone, but rather that the company bribes reviewers.   Guys, you shouldnt be in love with companies. Two things can be true at once. Hifiman can make good headphones at the same time they're bribing reviewers.
