Erm, wouldn't using stereo microphones work too? It seems cheaper and easier in the long run, not to mention stereo headphone users like me, who can't afford 3D headphones, would still be able to enjoy the 3-dimensional sound.

I experienced the same thing when re-wiring my headphones, I don't really know what caused it, but i know that just re-placing a wire on the 3.5mm plug terminal corrected the issue., I'd be interested in knowing how that happened, if anyone knows.
