I went from using a fiio e10 to a schiit mjolnir so yes it sounds noticeably better. This is probably a combination of the switch to balanced and the amp change, but i couldnt tell you which one contributed more.

              Recabled to balanced to work with my schiit mjolnir.   The outer section of the mini xlr in the earcup is metal. ended up having to melt out the inner plastic part of the xlr jack that had the pins, as it needed more force than i was willing to put on it to pop...

Definitely have a vibration in mine at high volume with a sound check. Sounds like wires vibrating against something inside.

Picked these up for $99 on black friday. Have experienced quite a few headphones, topping out around the $600 range, and these are by far the best ive experienced that are under $250 new. The akg k7xx i have coming might change that though.

If you are worried about having a permanent connector in the middle of your mic line, you can always cut the cable to a shorter length and use a male 3.5 to terminate it. That way you can just plug it directly into the computer, and if you want to extend it, you can just use a cable thats female...
