High-end source gear for Headphones
Hi all, I currently run an Aurender n100h->Mcintosh D100->ALO Studio Six->Audeze LCD-3's. I use viard/Isotek/voodoo/ALO cables. I am thinking of upgrading my DAC to either a Calyx Femto M or PS Audio Directstream DAC very soon. My question is, do you think I am going to be limiting the...- ahsu7

New Audeze LCD3
I don't know about stuck mini-xlr fixes, but I am based in Hong Kong and sent my headphones in last Monday for a dead driver, and FedEx is due to return them tomorrow! That is exactly 1 week for an international repair/return. I guess if you CAN initiate a return with Audeze, they are...- ahsu7

New Audeze LCD3
I'm not familiar with the Crack Amp, but my ak240 and cowon plenue m drive them fine, so I assume any external amp would suffice. I use a Studio Six, and the pairing is synergistic to say the least! I am from Hong Kong, so I'm not looking forward to shipping my Audeze back to California.- ahsu7

New Audeze LCD3
I think the LCD-3's are going to be quite different, sonically, to the T1. The audezes are lush and some say a bit warm. But they are also incredibly inviting in tone - you can listen to them for hours without irritation. I will also add that they have an abnormally high rate of failure, so do...- ahsu7

New Audeze LCD3
My LCD-3F's left driver died a few weeks ago. I immediately emailed them, but it took 1.5 weeks for them to reply with questions about my serial number, etc. I submitted my replies bout a week ago, and not having any reply yet, I decided to call them this morning. The first few attempts...- ahsu7

ALO Audio Studio Six Reviews and Impressions Thread
+1....the Studio Six seems to be very sensitive to modifications - line conditioners, vibration control, tube rolling, power cords....it's VERY hard to keep it in stock form!- ahsu7

ALO Audio Studio Six Reviews and Impressions Thread
Yeah, I also read something similar about the regulators, but it was a very noticeable difference to me. How are the he1000's with the studio six? I have a pair of lcd-3f's that just died on me (using akg k701 while they're being repaired). After reading all the horror stories, I'm not sure I...- ahsu7

ALO Audio Studio Six Reviews and Impressions Thread
I've spent a small fortune on a variety of NOS tubes over the past few months, and I've settled on: Red Base GE 6SN7 Brown base Bendix 6v6gt Mullard ob2's Metal base Mullard 5ar4 The tubes that had the most pronounced impact, to my ears, were actually the ob2 regulators. They drastically...- ahsu7

How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?
Thanks @Sweetmeat. Hong Kong basically has no consumer rights, benefits, or protection. Out of all the cities I've lived in, Hong Kong has to probably be the least generous with after-sales service, especially when buying from a 3rd party dealer. I won't even bother engaging them...I...- ahsu7

How Many Times Have Your LCD3 Headphones Been Returned to Audeze for Servicing (RMA)?
Man, my 2014 LCD-3F left driver just went dead last night, after having them for 1 year and babying them plentifully. I was thinking it was my ALO Reference 16 cable, since i've had terminations fall apart in other ALO cables, but its definitely my left driver. I just picked up a new music...- ahsu7

Thank you for the excellent insight. I wasn't sure, but the 0b2 switch seemingly had the biggest impact for my ears. I recently switched from my initial 0b2 set (can't remember the brand, they're buried in storage already) to the mullards, and I actually feel it is more harsh with the mullards...- ahsu7

ALO Audio Studio Six Reviews and Impressions Thread
Hi all. I've just began my first foray in to the world of tube rolling. So far, I've put a red base RCA 5692 into the 6sn7 spot, and a pair of NOS Mullard 6v6g into the 6v6 positions. I'm using the stock Mullard ob2's and JJ 5ar4. I just ordered a metal base Mullard 5ar4 which should arrive in...- ahsu7

REVIEW: The Stunning McIntosh D100
Thats annoying about the sub-par customer service. Fortunately, I do not have the chirping problem, but I will look out for it. I was thinking that by using the D100 as a pre-amp, I'd somehow be hitting the Studio Six differently somehow and thus causing some difference in sound. When...- ahsu7

REVIEW: The Stunning McIntosh D100
Hi Guys, I've been a big lurker on this forum and specific thread...so much so that I also have the D100 and Studio Six driving LCD-3's. I have always ran the D100 as fixed into the Studio Six, and used the Studio Six's volume control. After about a year of ownership, I decided to use the...- ahsu7
