I've only used my Pro iCAN with a balanced DAC. But iDSD BL vs Hugo 2, Hugo 2 would be better. But if you don't need a DAC with built in headphone amplifier, then look at Chord's QUTEST. It's the Hugo2 without the headphone amp and is cheaper.

I have no problem with microRendu v1.4 with v2.5 of the OS and Gen5 USB. I use the music player daemon. and minimserver.

And as you can see from my Sig, I have both a Yggy with Gen 5 USB and a microRendu. Also plays 24/192 files no problem for me. Don't use Roon as it seems a lot for what it is and if I use its subscription model it's effectively charging me to listen to my own music that I already own.

Try using a different usb port on your laptop as some usb ports can be shared with other things like the keyboard or trackpad or other usb ports that you may have something plugged in to.
