ifI iCan Pro - Impressions & Discussion

I've only used my Pro iCAN with a balanced DAC. But iDSD BL vs Hugo 2, Hugo 2 would be better. But if you don't need a DAC with built in headphone amplifier, then look at Chord's QUTEST. It's the Hugo2 without the headphone amp and is cheaper.

For clarity, the quote above relates to a question that asked if people still used decrapifiers after upgrading to Gen5 USB. Currently I use a Sonore microRendu with an Uptone LPS-1 with my Yggy. Before that I used a Macbook Air with the micro iUSB 3.0. When I moved over to the much better...

After what appears much unnecessary and completely undeserved negativity towards Schiit in the last few days, I would like to give a big Thank You to Schitt, for selling products that can be upgraded and providing upgrades for those products. If I had not bought an Yggy but bought a DAC from...

iFi AC iPurifier - Video Mini Series - The look, the tech, the lowdown. MORE ADDED!

Thanks for your answer. But why not embrace the difference and go triangular or square for the uk version? I believe there is already a difference in diameter between the US and Euro versions anyway.

iFi AC iPurifier - Video Mini Series - The look, the tech, the lowdown. MORE ADDED!

Dear @iFi audio HQ'd in the UK. Why is there no UK version? And would a Euro version plugged in to a Euro to UK socket adapter work as an alternative? Thanks.

ifI iCan Pro - Impressions & Discussion

Not aware yet of anyone that has. May be because of the high power requirements, nobody has one that meets the requirements. The Pro iCan manual does state that a LPS should not bring any advantages to sound over the included Pro iPower. I'd love to try because on my Sonore Microrendu, the...

For those applications, I would go 24 bit 48khz. For playing music on the other hand, never use windows audio, always use a player that supports wasapi or asio. These will give a direct connection to your DAC, always automatically sending the audio data to the DAC at the native bit rate and...

I have no problem with microRendu v1.4 with v2.5 of the OS and Gen5 USB. I use the music player daemon. and minimserver.

And as you can see from my Sig, I have both a Yggy with Gen 5 USB and a microRendu. Also plays 24/192 files no problem for me. Don't use Roon as it seems a lot for what it is and if I use its subscription model it's effectively charging me to listen to my own music that I already own.

Try using a different usb port on your laptop as some usb ports can be shared with other things like the keyboard or trackpad or other usb ports that you may have something plugged in to.

As far as I'm aware both Spotify and Tidal are 44.1/16 only. My point is that if you were using iTunes, which really is long overdue for an overhaul in this area, is that it doesn't output audio files at their bitrate. It uses the bit depth and bitrate set against your DAC in midi settings...

. What software are you using to play your music files? Looks like it may be forcing everything to play at 44.1/16.

I had the original ifi micro iDSD and used Audirvana to upsample PCM tracks to the max bitrate that DAC could take (which was what 768?). Upsampling was required on that DAC to make it sound its best. The Yggy though, is the complete opposite. Do not upsample the music you feed it. Feed it the...

From the Pro iCAN manual: "Tip: Any 9v to 18v DC power source with a minimum 60VA rating can be used with the Pro iCAN (including vehicular, RV and boat based 12V DC power). The Pro iCAN uses double-conversion power supplies that make it impervious to power supply noise and related problems...

Above comment relates in comparison to ifi iUSB 3.0.   In my experience and I've owned all products mentioned.   Wyrd is a little worse than ifi iPurifier 2. IUSB 3.0 is at a whole new level, at least if you use it with the ifi's USB cables which meet USB specs and both the cable and...

I have an Yggy and iCAN also. I always turn the iCAN off but give it about 20 mins to warm up before listening. I'd never leave it on 24/7 those tubes have a limited lifespan (is it about 10,000 hours? That's 416 days). Now that I've had the iCAN 4 months or so where as I used to prefer...
