Thanks for the responds everyone!    I've done as you said HawaiiBB, and I'm now using Fiio as my amp and the D2X as my EQ.  Tremendous change in the sound quality! But I still need to tweek the EQ a bit so the rest of the sound doesn't drown all together.

Before making any decisions here, exactly why should I get rid off my Sound Blaster X-FI HD?    Haven't tested the surround function yet, but Creative says it should support 5.1 surround. So can't see significant diffrences between X-FI and ZxR either. 

So I should just get rid of my sound cards, get Creative Labs Sound Blaster ZxR sound card instead?  And also, I read somewhere that I should get an amplifier to get the most out of my DT770. Or does ZxR do the job for that?    Thanks for the replies :)
