Best IEM for ipod 5.5g around or under $100?
GR07s came today, they also have static with my ipod. Oh well. They sound great. May I'll get an amp at some point to increase the signal-to-noise or switch to a Fiio X1.- btym

Best IEM for ipod 5.5g around or under $100?
Alright, thanks guys. Trying to avoid using an amp because they'll mostly be used in public and that's not very convenient- btym

Best IEM for ipod 5.5g around or under $100?
I prefer headphones but I decided I needed something in-ear for listening on the bus and at work etc. Decided to pick up a pair of Pistons because they're dirt cheap. They sound good for the price, but they're pretty bassy and unfortunately I hear constant static from my ipod that I never heard...- btym

I far prefer headphones but I needed something in-ear for the bus and such, didn't want to spend a lot of money Although I just got a new job so I'll be able to afford some nicer ones soon, I'll find some 32 ohm IEMs and see how those sound- btym

Any sensitive IEM is going to pick up the static though I think I'm just gonna live with it and then when I have some extra money spring for an X1 with a 128GB card, I can always sell my upgraded ipod for a pretty penny- btym

Maybe in a few months but I've wasted so much time/money on this ipod that I don't want to let it go yet If I see a used X1 for cheap anywhere I'll probably jump on it, but I'm gonna have to drop just as much money on the SD card for it :(- btym

Oh god I just got a pair of Xiaomi Pistons, holy sibilance batman... and my ipod is outputting constant static that becomes really obvious on something so low-impedance Anything I can do other than get an LOD DAC/amp (which I'm not going to do - not gonna trade the convenience)? It's not a...- btym

Just got em! TIL I have small ear canals because the small tips seal perfectly Do they change much with burn-in? The bass sounds a little muddy for lack of a better word and I'm hoping that goes away over time Also I'd like to get some foam tips for these, any recommendations?- btym

Note that the thin hold switch and headphone jack are curved, so they'll look and feel kinda weird with the thick back- btym

Unsure, I was pretty careful but definitely screwed something up :( It wouldn't play anything and it replaced all the album art with random noise, restored the firmware and disconnected/reconnected everything, couldn't get it to work. Thought it might have been the mSATA adapter but it's working...- btym

Spent $25 on new housing and ended up damaging my logic board, had to drop another $40 to fix it Maybe I shouldn't have gotten an ipod in the first place and just waited to get the fiio x5 :v- btym

I found this thread suggesting I could file down the tabs on the 6g faceplate but I'll gladly pay an extra $5 to ifixit to not have to do that :v- btym

Yeah, there are a lot of solid-color ones but I'd like to put a floral pattern on my ipod because that'd look tight, and I really want it to be flush with the surface of the ipod. Anodizing is pretty expensive for a one-off but I'm going to ask around about anodizing and powder coating and see...- btym

Is there anywhere I could get a custom faceplate for my 5.5g, or would I have to buy a new one and get it painted? All I can find is colorware which is very expensive and doesn't do anything before 6th gen now edit: after some digging, looks like the best way to do what I want is to get 6g...- btym
