Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
But the Borg do adapt to you.. That's why they have to remodulate their phasers to kill them o.O Just had to throw that out there. So in essence you adjust because they do which would suck in a headphone because then it would never fit right..- Hokieboy01

Upgrade from sennheiser 555?
If you think you want the 600 just look for some used ones or wait a while longer to purchase. Might as well go all the way and save some money in the long run. Then you get to look at amps and stuff :D- Hokieboy01

sennheiser game zero - help request
I would think the open air soundstage of the 990 would be better for gaming.. However, if you buy one of them make sure you get a lower impedance (32 or 80ohm which i think they both have) because if that was the problem with the Game Zero then you will probably have the same issue. It might be...- Hokieboy01

Here at head-fi our goal is to make Shure you never escape with that extra money you didn't really want to spend. You could look at the vmoda M80 if you like your music more towards bass heavy. Definitely portable/durable.- Hokieboy01

Upgrade from sennheiser 555?
True except for the bass frequencies. Big impedance spike there. I haven't heard anything awful about the 598. Maybe just take the plunge and get the 600 ;P- Hokieboy01

Upgrade from sennheiser 555?
What do you want to spend? And do you have/would you be willing to buy an amp? All of sennheiser's options above the 555 will want an amp. (assuming you stay in the HD series)- Hokieboy01

sennheiser game zero - help request
Looked up your motherboard and the only thing I found is that there is a headphone amp rated at 600 ohms. The "audio boost" seems to be their fancy name for it. I don't know a whole lot about how those things work really so maybe they are lying about the amp figuring not many people will try it...- Hokieboy01

sennheiser game zero - help request
I'm a little confused here. Are you saying that you can reach acceptable volume levels with the setup you have? The game zero has a 150 ohm impedance so they need power to be driver properly. You said your motherboard had an audio boost that can reach 600 ohms? Does it say amp? Because "audio...- Hokieboy01

My first audiophile class headphone under $200
The impedance of the bass frequencies for the 598 skyrocket above the 50 ohms they list in their specs. Unamped the bass will be very weak. You would be better off getting the HD558 and a cheap amp unless you really want the 598. But don't get it unamped. Someone else can probably give you a...- Hokieboy01

Fixing an ATH-M50x
The M50x has a single sided cable so is has to have a wire running from the left cup where the main cable comes in to the right one. If I had to guess I would say that got detached at either end because I can't imagine it just broke in half. I'm not a home so I can't check my M50 but there are...- Hokieboy01

Need advice choosing high end headphones
It would depend on how close you have the mic to yourself and how loud you turn the music/skype volume up. I would think that they probably would be able to hear at least music maaaybe not their own voices but possibly.- Hokieboy01
