[Headphone Surgery] Need help from experienced headphone modders/sound engineers...
I need help trying to get a pair of drivers out of my Pioneer HRM-5's. The yoke broke due to an engineering flaw so I am trying to transplant the drivers from the HRM-5's into an enclosure of an HRM-7. I have 2 questions/issues: Issue 1: The problem with trying to remove these drivers is that...- Harmonic Blast

M50 Alternatives/Pioneer HRM-5 Personal Experience?
I'm looking to buy a new pair of studio headphones because my M50's have a broken hinge. Rather than buy the M50X, I figured I'd try something different. Does anyone have experience with the HRM-5's? I don't have a way to audition them around here so I'm hoping someone with personal experience...- Harmonic Blast

Recabling AKG K240 "Sextett" Headphones
So I found this pair of K240's at my local thrift store for $15 a few hours ago without knowing that they were rare. Long story short, they are the Sextett K240's made in the 1970's and the right channel doesn't work. I am fairly certain it is a cable issue. I'm torn because I am a...- Harmonic Blast

Beyerdynamic T1 w/ Valhalla 2? a worthwhile upgrade?
Well here is a little update on my setup. I went for the Valhalla 2 w/ a pair of DT 880's (600 ohm) and the sound is incredible. If anyone is else is looking to upgrade I would highly recommend it. Another little bonus is I can upgrade to the T1 or the HD 800 when the time is right because they...- Harmonic Blast

Beyerdynamic T1 w/ Valhalla 2? a worthwhile upgrade?
Thanks for responding. I didn't think i had a store near me that had these headphones for auditioning but I actually found one and went earlier today. I didn't have a lot of time so I didn't get to take my time with them, but I was able to hear LCD2's and HD 800's briefly with a 4.5k McIntosh...- Harmonic Blast

Beyerdynamic T1 w/ Valhalla 2? a worthwhile upgrade?
Hi there. I dont post very often on this forum but i figured it would be best to consult some experienced members here before i decide to buy a bank breaking audio setup. My current setup: interchange between audiotechnica m50's or grado sr80i's with an Audioquest dragonfly on a retina...- Harmonic Blast

Setup Question: Audioquest Dragonfly DAC
I have a 2012 Retina macbook (which I am told has a decent DAC), a pair of Audio Technica M50's and a pair of Grado Sr-80i's. I am using Fidelia and I have adjusted the EQ settings to my liking, but I have been reading recently that a lot of people like getting usb DAC's. Some make bold claims...- Harmonic Blast

Need help choosing an audio amp...
I always have to crank up the volume a ton more for the Grados to hear well which i always assumed was because they are open-back and they bleed a lot. Even when i crank up the volume, the whole listening experience just sounds less vivid.- Harmonic Blast

Need help choosing an audio amp...
Hey folks. This is my first post on this forum even though i have been browsing through it for years. I am a newb when it comes to high fidelity audio so please bear with me during my time of ignorance.
