I have a few pairs of headphones/iems. I don't feel like any of them are particularly suited or not suited to the ipod. I'd use what you like. I use amps with my ipods. Even at lower volumes, I prefer the sound with the amp. My amps all cost less than $100 each.

For what its worth, Tarkan recommends always putting the fastest card in slot 1. I wonder if the older cards aren't mixing well with the newer cards (but Tarkan does say you can mix and match cards). You could try leaving out the older card & see if that fixes the problem.

Whenever loading music, I always dual boot into OF. So the 2 versions of Rockbox are equivalent except for writing to the ipod?
