Do you own a vintage CD player? (pics please!)

I can't supply a pic just yet as it's boxed up for a forthcoming house move, but my entry to this thread is an early 1990s Sony CDP 559ES. A monstrously heavy thing with the Gibraltar copper  chassis. It sounds beautiful to this day. It was out of service for a good few years with what I thought...

    The Fiio X5 Thread

Yes, it's a different piece of software. It won't rip standard audio from dvds though, but it is freeware.   Swings and roundabouts.

Do a Google search for DVDAExplorer.   It's quite basic as it is designed specifically for ripping the hi-res audio (MLP?) from DVD-A discs.   It's also free!

And if the header of the tag is corrupted and no longer identifies itself correctly as a tag/header/metadata?

In my experience few have the facility to delete 'any' whereas most can delete 'all' but only if they know of them, ie can recognise that they are there.   Very few have the "nuke from orbit" function which can be the only way "to be sure". :D   Sometimes the nuclear option is the correct...

Again, no, that wasn't what I was referring to. In the aforementioned tags they were both ID3 v2. They resulted from a glitch in one of the tagging/creation programs. What I'm ultimately trying to get across is that Foobar will nuke any and all tags whether correct or occur due to various...

    The Fiio X5 Thread

I wasn't actually referring to extended tags. Sometimes different programs put the standard tags in different places, e.g. EAC puts the tags at the beginning of the file and Tag&Rename puts them at the end. Sometimes when a program screws up it doesn't 'see' the first tag and duplicates the...

I disagree. My recent post which mentioned Level 8 FLACs was meant to demonstrate that it solved the problem I had. It wasn't just one album either, it was more like 20-30.   Additionally, for those with tagging problems, and I don't know how many are aware of this, but Foobar has a slightly...

I have the same memory card and had similar problems.   After farting around though I found the easiest way to get round it all was to use Foobar to convert the files back to wav, then reconvert to FLAC (Level 8), retagged everything (using Tag&Rename). I recopied the files back onto the card...

    The Fiio X5 Thread

I've had my X5 for about a month and being a geek and audiophile I've done my best to keep up to date with the latest firmware releases. I'm currently on v2.0 and have been highly delighted with the sound of the X5... that is up until the last few days when I've been noticing some sound problems...
