Congrats! As a long time fan of Fiio products, I'm anxious to get my hands on the Q5S as well as the upcoming K5Pro !! I've been using the trusted E17/E09 combination (https://www.head-fi.org/showcase/ad...5-5-inch-100-watts.14968/reviews#review-13461) as well as a 1st gen X5 and Mont Blanc -...- rfox

JH Audio vs 64Audio - Advice for CIEM Newbie
Triple FI 10s are showing their age - want to move up to CIEMs (first ever!) Been doing a lot of homework, reading a bunch of forums and tried all of UEs, 64Audio ADELs, Vision Ears and FitEars - the UE11 and 64Audio ADEL a6/a8 coming closest to what I like. Problem is, I live in Germany...- rfox

Price does depend - I wanted something "Special" and decided on studio quality near-field monitors - a 2.1 setup with subwoofer as well - there are many brands and prices out there - but I chose these: ...- rfox

Review by 'rfox' on item 'Adam Audio A5X Powered Studio Monitor (5.5 inch, 100 watts)'
I wanted a high-end desktop 2.1 system - After much research and sound trials, I ended up combining the Fiio Alpen E17 DAC and the E09K Desktop Amp for a powerful combination together with 2 Adam A5Xs and the Sub7 bass. The sound is amazing for near field monitors - very neutral - and the...- rfox

Reccomendation: Replacing aging UE Triple.Fi 10s - stepping up??!!??
I've owned the Triple Fi 10 for many years now - the best I've had to date. Now I am ready for the "next step" and want to replace them with something acoustically better. As source, I have the Fiio X5 and an E12 amp stack. I've read a bunch of comparisons and reviews between the following...- rfox

Senheiser ie800 vs shure se846
I have owned UE Triple Fi 10s for many years now - which I really enjoyed until now - also I own a Fiio X5 and E12 amp - Now I want to find the "next step up" from my Triple Fi's. After reading a bunch of reviews, comparison and articles - I'm torn between the IE800s, se846 or the AKG k3003 -...- rfox

Reference table for album art, tagging and lyrics support on the X3 and X5
Bummer - half of my collection is OGG files with embedded artwork!! My Cowon S9 supports it, but my shiny new X5 doesn't. Here's hoping for a future firmware update which addresses this shortcoming! Cheers, R.Fox -
FiiO X7 | DXD | DSD | 384K/64B | ESS9018+ Android | WiFi | Bluetooth | 4 AMP modules | Balanced Out |
I agree with I agree here - just got my new X5+E12 combination - very nice, but bulky as heck! I would also like to see a separate treble and bass adjustment (like on the E17) - which is sorely missing on the X5 - that's why I got the E12 (for the bass boost!) Keep the dual MicroSD...- rfox

What you are describing here is what I was noticing as well when I first got my X5 last week - call it "thump" or I like to call it "punch" - but a clean "boom" was missing with just the X5 - and this was most noticeable with my IEMs. Funny thing is, after several listening sessions with my...- rfox

Let me qualify this a bit more - My UE Triple.Fi 10 IEMS create some amazing bass response (expecially considering the size of them) - I know this, because I have experienced it for a few years now using my Cowon S9 together with the IEMs. Now, using my new X5 - which does sound incredible (but...- rfox

I've been testing my X5 since i received it last Friday (25th of April) with a bunch of different songs 6 styles- I keep switching combinations of my Bose QC15 and UE Triple.Fi 10s - my Cowon S9 and the X5 for comparison. The X5 definitely is failing in bass body as described above - the...- rfox

So in other words, none of the cases are designed to work with the stacking kit?!? i also like the leather case - but no part number on the website. The stacking kit is a good idea - but they should have a well designed case foi it (together with the E12) - then they can promote the...- rfox

I'm still debating about getting the E12 to compliment my X5 - and I'm still looking for a good quality inter Connect cable in Germany (like the ALO brand) - although I see the HS6 stacking kit has a nice quality IC cable with it - One question though - All the pictures of thestacking kit...- rfox

The Fiio X5 Thread
Hello - I vote for your bug, but I also read somewhere earlier in this thread that the X5 doesn't have the hardware to allow separate treble and bass (like the X3) - which is a mystery why FiiO decided not to incude it on their flagship product . . . Cheers, R:Fox- rfox

Just wish the X5 had that feature as well (treble and bass adjustment) - like my E17 has - I hope the next generation player (X7?) will have it. Cheers, R.Fox- rfox

I wanted to test both the Fiio X5 and the E17 as a USB DAC with the Note 3 (latest firmware - 4.4.2) X5 running v 1.23Beta firmware. Unfortunately, the E17 works, the X5 doesn't - it tries to start as USB DAC - but keeps flipping back and forth between DAC and player - especially when...- rfox

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 (24-bit/192KHz)
I was testing both the Fiio X5 and the E17 as a USB DAC with the Note 3 (latest firmware - 4.4.2) The E17 works, the X5 doesn't - it tries to start as USB DAC - but keeps flipping back and forth between DAC and player - especially when playing a song. After having the X5 for a few days now - I am still getting used to all the oddities and niceties. It still impresses so far . . . One annoying topic is the folder view navigation: Due to the known media file size limit of 5800 titles (I have close 7000) - I use mostly folder view to...- rfox

Faster than i thought - I found a cable which works with my E17 - so I'm able to compare now: Using the same source (netbook running Ubuntu) and same music - I have compared the X5 vs the E17 as USB DACs. Firstly, both work without special drivers under Linux - iwas testing with my Bose...- rfox

Sorry for the delayed reponse - on Holiday right now - not checking the forums as much!
