Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
So I ended up picking up the X5 over a week ago and...so far so good! I didn't get to root the device yet so I've been using the latest firmware and it has been very stable so far with the Fiio app (3.0.9). Folder browsing has been smooth with 2 SD cards in use, which is pretty much all I needed lol- BelialSeraph

Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot
Hi, I just wanted to ask current X5 owners whether the player is stable if just playing music with the fiio music app (with latest firmware and music app version)? I have a chance to buy one sealed at a decent price so wanted to ask before going for it. My use case will be listening to my...- BelialSeraph

TOPPING NX1 Portable Headphone Amplifier Impressions Thread
Indeed, it ended up being a good buy, especially with that battery life. Forgot to turn it off three nights (turning it off on the morning after waking up) and its still running without me having to charge since - my E12 nor the E17 wouldn't get past the first night!- BelialSeraph

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Glad to hear that. These players are quite well-rounded then, with good shuffle and folder browse implementation. It sucks going on shuffle but having the same songs play over and over again lol! Looks like amazon has a nice deal going with the X3 right now, maybe I'll pick one up. Or maybe...- BelialSeraph

The Fiio X3 Thread.
Hi guys, I have a question about the shuffle feature: does it make sure that every track is played (before a track is played twice), or does it just play any random song? I liked how the shuffle feature on ipods and rockboxed players make some sort of shuffle playlist when you set to shuffle so...- BelialSeraph

Headphone Sightings 2
Saw someone in the library in campus earlier with a Shure IEM, not sure which model but it may have been the 215. Speaking of library encounters though, I remember seeing someone with the Senn HD598 earlier this year- BelialSeraph

Canada; none of the headphone stores here received them yet (they have the HE-560 though). And that's awesome man, enjoy your new toys tomorrow Indeed! I've tried so many other good cans but the Grado sound sig just keeps me from jumping the gun everytime lol- BelialSeraph

I don't even know when we're getting them here, after a lot of delays they supposedly would've been here by Oct 1 but well y'know Considering the headphones you own, I'm really looking forward to your comparisons!- BelialSeraph

Thanks guys. I've actually tried the PS500 in the past (not 500e though) and liked them for the genre: energetic bass, forwardness of a Grado yet smoother treble. I thought the midbass got excessive at times though...not a bad thing for my fun listening but when I try to immerse myself in the...- BelialSeraph

Would the RS2 be less aggressive than the RS1? For metal I found the RS1 to be the best I've heard, but for Japanese pop it felt too bright with the L-cush, and too forward with the S-cush. Thinking of upgrading, but the RS1 is out of my budget! D:- BelialSeraph

What are the most comfortable headphones regardless of price and sound quality?
Senn HD650 and Shure 1840 for me, with the HD598, Beyer DT880 and maybe the HifiMan HE-560 as runner ups- BelialSeraph

Need help choosing first decent headphone
I tried both with JPop; personally for female vocals alone, I think the HD598 has the edge due to its smooth treble, spacious soundstage yet mid-centric sound that emphasizes the vocals. I find the DT880's brightness and wide soundstage to be an odd combination for JPop (yea the genre does have...- BelialSeraph

How to connect FiiO E09K to computer through USB?
Yes that would work. You can connect that DAC to the E09K via aux easily, but that DAC doesn't have USB input so you'd have to use a usb to coax adapter for your laptop- BelialSeraph

OK, just a couple sacrilegious questions...
I only have some listening experience with the M50, but looking at the specs on Audio Technica's site, it seems that the M50X should be equally easy to drive. As for the latter question, the cable is durable enough, but it's really up to you whether you think it'd be worth it or not. Personally...- BelialSeraph

How to connect FiiO E09K to computer through USB?
Yeah I wasn't exactly thinking straight when I typed that haha @OP: So try out the RCA thing first if you can find/have a cheap cable, but if you decide to purchase a DAC purely to pair with it, go for the E07K as it would sound exactly the same as the E17 when docked- BelialSeraph

How to connect FiiO E09K to computer through USB?
Yes you'll need either the E07K or the E17 for you to be able to use the E09K via USB; It's basically a dock for the FiiO DACs. You can get a 3.5mm to RCA cable for laptop's headphone out -> E09K, but I don't know if it'll sound good though (I don't like my headphone out much). The E09K is...- BelialSeraph

Need help choosing first decent headphone
I second KG Jag's advice. I've had a chance to audition both the HD598 and DT880, and they both have the soundstage...very comfortable as well. Female vocals sounded nice on the DT880 (unlike its little brother DT770), but it felt like the bass and treble were boosted relative to the mids. Not...- BelialSeraph

bassy headphones for jpop and jrock under 100
What about the UE4000? The sound signature is quite warm to me - nice well extended bass, and recessed treble so poor recordings don't sound too harsh (i.e. certain Fripside songs). The mids don't feel recessed at all, which makes them a contender for this genre of music methinks. Weaknesses...- BelialSeraph

The FiiO X1 Discussion and Help and Support Thread |192K/24B|100mW | LO | inline remote
Glad to hear that James! So I'm assuming that means the battery life gets a slight extension then? How is everyone's experience with the battery life? (its a priority for me, and from what I've read its already a solid device in terms of SQ) Seems like I'm on the road to owning another FiiO...- BelialSeraph

Looking for a new pair of headphones.
TBH I can't really recommend the HE-400 because of the recessed midrange. For me, Jpop sounds best with headphones with forward mids. As for recommendations, there's the AD1000X. I haven't listened to one, but I've been seeing some users claim that it (along with the flagship AD2000X) are...- BelialSeraph

The FiiO X1 Discussion and Help and Support Thread |192K/24B|100mW | LO | inline remote
Hi guys, just a question...does the line out feature actually bypass the amp and increase the battery life or does it just output signal at line level (near max volume)?- BelialSeraph
