Crack;Bottlehead OTL
My heart skipped a beat on thursday. Received the crack+speedball I ordered about a month earlier, went to the website to download instructions and saw the fresh news of the sale. 106 euros saved if I had just waited one more month :p Anyways, I'm building my first crack now. Since I've done a...- controllerboy

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
I just got a really nice deal on the amp, just like I did on th HD800's. It was my first experience with tubes and I really like it, even tho I know the volume control has WAY too much gain. Channel seperation is decent enough for me, but then again I have nothing better to compare it too. I'm...- controllerboy

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
After your instructions, I made some tube adapters and soldered some wires, which I connected to the breadboard. Confirmed working on Hifiman EF2A! I do need to dial up the (normally immensely overpowered ) gain to around the maximum as well as the volume on my Macbook to get a decent output on...- controllerboy

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
Thanks to both of you for the very speedy replies. I'm in no hurry since it'll take at least a month for the breadboard to arrive. I'll keep cheking ebay and when I see nothing comes along, I'll try to find some time to make two of my own. Greetings Jan Mestdagh- controllerboy

Little Dot Tube Amps: Vacuum Tube Rolling Guide
Hello I'm quite new at this while tube rolling thing, but my grandparents seem to have quite a collection of tubes from the old days and I want to test them all. I've also ordered some '70s Voskhod 6N23P tubes to use in both my Little Dot and my Hifiman EF2A. Anyways, I found that it's...- controllerboy

Grado upgrade
Just for future readers - a follow-up on my experiences with the PS-500's. I feel they've broken in a lot more the last week or two and I've grown to like them A LOT. I stand corrected and think they're mor a 15-20% upgrade from the 325is. Still not worth the premium price of 769 euros...- controllerboy

Grado upgrade
Judging your description of the beyerdynamic t1s, by all means go for them :) Never heard them but I think it can only be a good thing if the difference in sound is as big as the difference in price. Which is not the case between the 325is and ps500.- controllerboy

Grado upgrade
Hi Dennic, I posted a similar thread here a few days ago on this subject but didn't get the reactions of people who own both the 325is and ps500 I hoped for. So I took the leap and just bought the PS500's yesterday. I should have been studying, but spent most of the past day listening to...- controllerboy

Is there a portable amp with an s/pdif input?
I Have a Fiio E17 "Alpen" portable amp, which doubles as a DAC. As far as I know it supports s/pdif input, but I've never used it. AFAIK the only difference between using the DAC via USB or using it with the s/pdif in is that the USB will only give you a max quality of 24bit / 96kHz, where...- controllerboy

Seeking Recommendations on a 120GB+ Player
If Itunes is what bothers you, you could get an ipod 160 GB and rockbox it. Yes, it's not perfectely stable stable and the sound quality isn't comparable to a Fiio or a cowon player, but it does the trick, and cheap enough, too. Just be cautious if you would go for a second hand ipod. I got...- controllerboy

Grado SR325is --> PS500. Worth the upgrade?
Hello. I've been a long time lurker here, but decided to register since I want to start taking part in the discussions and helping other people with my knowledge and experiences of Hi-Fi Headphones. But first, may I ask you to help me with one decision I've been quite troubled with the...- controllerboy
