Floor speakers for Turntable
I was thinking of buying these speakers to pair with my Music hall turntable. Does anyone know if they are good speakers for the money? Tuner/Receiver for Music Hall MMf 2.1 Turntable
I have been out of the vinyl scene for a long time but have decided to return. I just purchased a Music Hall MMF 2.1 turntable which seems to be a good "entry" level to good quality vinyl listening based on reviews. I now need a mid-priced receiver/tuner to pair with it. Something in the...- ezra2323

Sony HD1 - I LIKE ATRAC3Plus, Should I get A Close-Out for $229?
The HD-3 plays MP3 natively. The HD-1 will re-compress all your MP3 s to ATRAC3. Re-compressing already compressed music = bad sound quality. If you have ZERO MP3s in your collection, either one works.- ezra2323

Headphones for intense workout
I'm checking out the Sony sports models and am wondering what is the best model (or other brand) based on the following criteria in order of importance #1 non-ear bud style #2 extremely light #3 sound quality #4 style and color (preferably white or silver) I like my Apple ear buds...- ezra2323

SONY MDR-J20 Review?
Anyone have a review of these iPod matching, perfect for excercise/sports (ergonomically speaking) headphones? I'm concerned that the sound quality may be significantly inferior to iPods ear-buds and Sennheiser MX 400/500s. Other than unknown sound quality, they look like they may be a decent...- ezra2323

Beat headphones for travel?
That was a typo - beSt headphones. That's what happens when you are in a rush. Thanks for the replies. I looked at the PXC250 at amazon and many of the reviews were not too favorable. Many said that the $100 noise-cancellation feature is not worth it. The PX 200 reviews were more favorable...- ezra2323

Beat headphones for travel?
In order of importance Criteria #1: best sound Criteria #2: Not in-ear canal, over the ear or bud only Criteria #2: size - smaller the better, they are for travel Criteria #3: style, white and silver are preferred but black is OK Criteria #4: price, $150 budget #2 knocks out all of the...- ezra2323

Sony MDR-EX71SL or Etymotic ER6i?
Thanks for all of the advice, I really appreciate it. Based on the replies here, everyone seems pretty happy with the comfort of the ER6i. I'm suprised at the level of sound difference stated between the Sony and the ER6i. Is it really that much - even when listening to LAME APS files on an iPod?- ezra2323

Sony MDR-EX71SL or Etymotic ER6i?
If you can wear foam earplugs you can use the Ety's So they are just like wearing eraplugs then, no worse? That's no big deal. People make it sound like these stick WAY into the ear canal. Ear plugs do not go that far into your ear.- ezra2323

Sony MDR-EX71SL or Etymotic ER6i?
Before everyone answers Etymotic, let me explain why I even ask the question. I have never before used canal headphones and while I do not mind the sensation of foam earplugs in my ears, I very much dislike the sensation of objects deep in my ear canal (like the tool the doctor uses at their...- ezra2323

So what do we know about the Karma 2 and or Chroma?
This is coming from an Apple/iPod devotee who has been previously critical (although supportive) of Rio's products. These players look great! From a style perspective, Rio finally 'gets it'. The Carbon looks like the Nitrus with an iPod Mini body. Very cool. The Forge line is simply stunning...- ezra2323

Which encoding is better?
Quote: AAC Cons. iPods are the only player that plays AAC natively.DRM, though it has been bypassed for iTune AAC files recently. Not exactly true. AAC is not natively DRM. In fact, iTunes encoded AAC files or Nero encoded AAC files are NOT DRM. Only purchased music from iTunes or...- ezra2323

ipod revisited... better, but still room for improvement
Quote: I'll probably sell my 3g in a couple of weeks. Use the proceeds to buy one of those very nice new cases from Vaja for the iPod Mini. I have one for my 3G. $50 but it is simply awesome and prevents all of those fingerprint smudges you refer to.- ezra2323

ipod revisited... better, but still room for improvement
Quote: I would be quite happy with 4GB, but for $20 more it would seem insane not to get the 15GB iPod I own the Mini and the 3G 15GB iPod. I far and away prefer the Mini but it really does come down to use. Since my primary use is during exercise, the size makes a HUGE difference...- ezra2323

ipod mini or Sony MZ-N10?
The iPod Mini is the best all around player on the market IMHO when one considers size, style, ease of use, durability, and sound. It's an easy choice.- ezra2323

Sony's VAIO Pocket 20GB
I'll try and be more objective Design is cool Color display of song info including album art, very cool. Mark my words - 4G iPods will have this! Atrac3 still? Hello? Betamax!!! This player, and Sony's whole platform will not be a success.- ezra2323

Apple In Ear headphones
Quote: what is ur actual budget? if you give us a budget we might be able to offer you better cans. $50. Prefer ear buds for this purpose (working out and traveling). Prefer white to match the iPod. I have high end phones for home use. MX400s for portable use right now.- ezra2323

Apple In Ear headphones
Thanks for the responses. I have no plans to buy them but wanted to hear if I was missing out on anything. Sounds like a resounding "no". Wish Sennheiser would make white ear buds (not to be worn in seedy areas per the earlier post about muggings).- ezra2323

Apple In Ear headphones
Are Apple's in-ear headphones any better than the iPod provided ear buds? In terms of both comfort and sound quality. Note, I am not asking the following: Are they a good deal? Every Apple accessory is dramatically over-priced. I know they are not a good deal. Are they as good as Sure or...- ezra2323

looking for MP3 player for working out....
Quote: solution = rio nitrus 1.5gb $150 If you can wait, the new 4GB Nitrus should be out soon. And if Austonia's picture on DAPReview is the new 4GB model, it looks great in silver and black!!! Personally, I prefer the iPod Mini, but you cannot find one of those either right now...- ezra2323

Rio's future and iPod Mini Musings
Yes, Apple's AIFF format is basically a WAV file with information. At 10 GB, figure about 15 -20 CDs. Not much. If you want lossless, look at the Rio Karma 20 GB which plays FLAC lossless files which are at about 60% the size of a WAV file. Figure 60-60 CDs on the Karma.- ezra2323

Rio's future and iPod Mini Musings
What is next for Rio? They released a slew of new players last fall and have since fallen silent. While the Karma and Nitrus were quite good, they both fell short of the iPod and Ipod Mini respectively. Don't take my opinion for it - review the comparative SALES of each player It would make...- ezra2323
