I've actually just closed the deal on a pair of Fostex TH-610's with another Head-Fi member. I've heard they're slightly more refined, plus they look better to me and are the only ones with a detachable cable. I appreciate your input though!

  I just replaced the cable about a month ago with the factory Sennheiser replacement. I don't have another I can test with, but I have tried reseating the connection a couple times to no avail.

  I don't think it's inside the cup, its just below the prong unit thing on the wire, at the area where the wire and the prong unit connect.
