Yep, that’s what a line out on an amp is for. Now the amp would function as a pre-amp

Reading through the RU7 thread, people recommend the ddhifi MFi07S cable which improves the connection with iPhones.

I will be in a similar boat (no aptx adaptive or ldac devices, only aptx or aac), how would you compare the two in sound quality? Also what about microphone quality?

Curious to know, are you using the 2.5mm balanced output or 3.5mm single ended output on the 5k?
