CustomCans alternative for DT 770
I have a pair of DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm. I've had to replace the cable in the past because it was cutting the audio out. The original cable and the newly replaced one have gotten stiff, probably due to being against skin and/or the weather conditions where I live. Because of that I'd like to get...- sneak310

@PurpleAngel please see: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/another-dt770-alternative-thread.881231/#post-14281147 Also, wouldn't the coiled cord be better resistant against becoming stiff from whatever it is causing the straight cable to become stiff?- sneak310

Thanks but I was referring to the headphone amp details and I'm aware of the ability to do my own cables but was considering other headphones as a "fix" if it means an improvement over these ones anyway.- sneak310

Yeah, I know about all of that but I was hoping someone had some insight on the actual details on the headphone amp in this case :/. I have no issue using my receiver with the 80 Ohm headphones but I have nothing of higher impedance to plug in.- sneak310

Another DT770 alternative thread
My main concern with regular headphone amps is mostly the tiny volume pot. I also don't really want things sliding around on my desk because they're so light that the cables that plug into them can shove the amp. The receiver of course adds the bonus of existing if I ever decide to setup...- sneak310

Imagine my shock that PurpleAngel replied. Hi again :D Can you go into detail on those issues please? Also don't the 250s sound real different compared to the 80s? And this doesn't solve my cable issue :frowning2:. Any thoughts on K550 and K553? Oh yeah, I read about this some time between...- sneak310

Another DT770 alternative thread
I ordered my DT770 80 Pros in October 2013 and they've been one of my favorite purchases ever. I love the comfort and sound of these but I'm tired of a few things: 1. The cord is TOO LONG. I don't need a 9 foot cable. Half of that would be fine (minor issue). 2. The cord started moving freely...- sneak310

DT770 release date?
The earliest indication I can find of their existence is 2006 (review). I'm watching a movie right now based in the 90s and they're using DT770s and it's bothering me because I'm pretty sure they didn't exist. Any info on this?- sneak310

Introducing the Immersive PC 373D
Your opinion of where the best players will be is irrelevant to the matter. I've seen plenty of amazing players in competitions without prizes and that's in ET, arguable the highest skill requirement shooter that exists.- sneak310

Introducing the Immersive PC 373D
It is useful here as the original point which was a comparison between this and the PC360 which is practically the same headset without the emulated surround. The original point was that stereo is better for a competitive edge. What I was thinking the first time this topic got active...- sneak310

However the conversation wasn't on "triple A titles" but rather competitive shooters which are in stereo in the ones where hearing people really makes a difference. I'm pretty sure idTech3 didn't have anything fancy with audio in the game itself and stereo always beat emulated surround.- sneak310

I didn't say headphones aren't sufficient for convincing surround sound I said in competitive shooters stereo headphones are more efficient than emulated surround sound. I've listened to that before. Regardless of us having only 2 ears, the sounds work differently in headphones because of the way sound bounces off things. I didn't say anything about 5.1 recordings, I'm talking about emulated surround in headphones/headsets.- sneak310

Introducing the Immersive PC 373D
Well sure it's possible to emulate it, but that doesn't change the fact headphones are advertised as a "7.1 channel surround sound headset" rather than "emulated 7.1 surround headset". In addition to this as far as what's "better competitively" I can only speak on my own tests as well as tests...- sneak310

Doesn't really depend.. The issue here is we're using 2 (large) drivers to try to deliver the sounds of 8 speakers. Next up we're talking about headphones, which keep the sound in your ear and the sounds bounce around in there. Normally in a surround setup the distance of the speakers...- sneak310

Introducing the Immersive PC 373D
I have the PC360, and it's great.. however I prefer closed headphones because of sound getting in and out of the headphones. I also use my left hand on the mouse and have limited amount of keys at my disposal to be using push to talk so I prefer using voice activation. I'm not one of those fools...- sneak310

Please help me choose an amp (or amp/dac) for my Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 Ohm
It came today and I've been comparing the sound of an RCA cable from the Xonar DG to the Magni to the sound of optical from Xonar DG to Modi and it's hard to tell a difference really. One thing I'm wondering about is if it's normal when unplugging one of the RCAs in the back of the Magni for the...- sneak310
