Yes, you can run a portable amp/DAC from the headphone jack. Check out the portable amp/DAC section for advice and suggestions :) I use a FiiO E17 on my ipod classic. 

Don't forget one is open backed and the other is closed

the Sennheiser 595's will not give you the bass you are wanting from the headphones you listed. They are good/ok open back headphones but will not give you the heavy driving bass when you compare them to ATH WS99 etc

actually - hey Edric Li, tell you how nice I will be. Post me your SZ2000 and other headphones and I will conduct an unbiased BASS test for the masses on your behalf* *please note I may not return said headphones but at least we will all be satisfied with gaining a conclusion

For replacement pads, is there a significant difference between the velour pads vs. the leather-ette type pads? I assume there initially is in terms of seal over/on the ear, but is the bass impact very dissimilar? I prefer using velour pads but if it affected the 'sensation' in the performance...

Hisound Audio WooDuo 2 gets my vote as well. I'm a bass head through and through, from my car and my subs to my personal preferences for iem. I listen hip hop, rap, dubstep, trap and reggae mostly and as much as everyone here is recommending their personal opinions, from one bass-head to another...
