The Nameless Guide To PC Gaming Audio (with binaural headphone surround sound)

I have a titanium HD and PC360s (Soon to be HE-500s), and I can tell you that audio positioning is great.  I highly recomment the sound card, it looks great (which only matters if you're a DIY PC buff like me) and sounds fine.  The features are a plus, too.

Advice with HE-400s and an AMP/DAC Setup.

Very good points all around, I'm just not sure where I'll be ae to sample these things in the near future. Are there any audio stores in Southern California that let people demo, let alone stores that have all if the equipment that I would want to try? If I can't find anything I think I'll go...

Advice with HE-400s and an AMP/DAC Setup.

Arg I'm having a pretty terrible (heh) time choosing the right amp, so many choices... I've now seen the Yulong D100 which, aside from being a very nice DAC, also has a very nice amp built in, something that 's supposed to be on par with the Matrix M-Stage.  I save money going with the D100...

Advice with HE-400s and an AMP/DAC Setup.

Quote: Thanks for the input, it was actually quite helpful!  I managed to actually grab a pair of HE-500s during the Massdrop sale, yippee $579! Now that I have those, I'm almost forcing myself to get a better amp.  That or my birthday is coming up, who knows . So I'm going back and forth...

Advice with HE-400s and an AMP/DAC Setup.

Quote: This is the thing that I'm finally starting to understand, and something that my wallet desperately wants me to realize.  I just need to come to terms with it.  Very wise words, thank you.  But please to relate your experience with the headphones, what are you using to power them...

Advice with HE-400s and an AMP/DAC Setup.

Quote: The asthetics of the O2 are really it's only downfall, I can't stand how cramped the front it.  I'm loving almost everything that Shiit it making with regards to looks, and from what I've heard (or rather, haven't) they sound great. Quote: Gah I've heard a lot about it not...

Advice with HE-400s and an AMP/DAC Setup.

Quote: Awesome, I'm glad to head it works well.  What outputs do you use, SPDIF I assume? Which bypasses the DAC on the soundcard but still retains the effects that it brings to the table.  Yes?  Please let me know how it sounds when you change it, I might just base my decision between the...

While I'm sure that the magni would be absolutely fantastic, I'm confident that I'm willing to spend a little bit more, even if the gains aren't linear.  This has been an awesome discussion, the only thing up for consideration in my mind at the moment is how important portability will be to...

Quote: Good to know, and glad that you agree with my original thinking.   I recently again came across the Matrix M-Stage, should that be another that I should consider?  So far I'm leaning towards the Asgard 2, is there any reason(s) why I should go/look elsewhere?

It's correct that I do want virtual surround, helps a ton in games.  Or so I think.  I'll do some testing to check how useful it is.  In the meantime, I've been trying to stay up to speed with all the terms flying around.  So I would or wouldn't be able to utlize the sound card's features while...

While I'm sure this topic has been beaten to absolute death here in this thread, I simply don't have time to read all 800 pages.  I'm in seriously considering picking up some HE-400s, and, to pair with my Titanium HD (DAC and surround features), I'm looking to pick up an AMP.  My budget is...

Quote: Thanks for the quick reply, and for comfirming that I should probably just stick with the TiHD for the converting.  At this point it's between the Asgard and the O2, with the Asgard being more expensive but (probably?) better sounding amplification, and the O2, still sounding quite...
