    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

    It's of limited help, but I haven't used the FiiO app in years (it struggled with my big library on my 400GB and 512GB cards) - I bought NeutronMP. You might try the FiiO forum? https://forum.fiio.com/note/showNoteContent.do?id=202105071626425774349&tid=17

    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

    15 months ago (approx) I replaced my FiiO x5iii with an identical sized 3rd party battery, but that appeared to start to bulge after about 12 months. So, in a fit of frustration/panic, I found an old small 700mAh that I had lying around and fitted that (with both limiters from the original FiiO...

    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

    Thanks for the teardown, it made life a little less stressful when I did mine (finished about 15 minutes ago). After discharging the X5 as much as possible (first in the OS and then sat at the bootloader) I decided to repeatedly stress/bend the old tags until they broke (it's only soft metal)...

    Found A Possible Fix For Slow / Laggy Fiio X5 III !!!

    Going to try this right now as I almost exclusivley use the NeutronMP. TBH I'm happy with the speed but a little less power consumption would be good. BTW I did notice that repeatedly tapping on one option looks like it will lead to the disabling/uninstall of the Google Services, though I have...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Sadly I have to say that after another scary 'you could cook an egg on this' moment last week (that makes three very worrying moments now over different incarnations of this improved kernel) I have gone back to the stock kernel (without any problems so far). Maybe it's my X5, but when it simply...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    @jkbuha A bit of positive feedback: my X5iii has been running noticeably better since my last post and I even got the confidence to redo the process and raise it up to the middle speed (1752MHz wasn't it?) and all is good so far with only 1 freeze that was probably an app playing up. The one...

    Just a quick reply to say that your exFat suggestion has sorted my external_SD1 issue - many thanks :smile_phones:

    Fiio X5 3rd gen || 2x AKM 4490 || Balanced Out || DSD || DXD | DTS | Android || Dual Card Slot

    I've just discovered this post in this thread and it's the same fault that I'd noticed twice before whilst trying out two earlier kernel versions (here's the first time I encountered it...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Thanks for the explanation. And having seen the reply from @Bray90820, I think I may have to create a bit of time and give it another go.

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    And calling out the point that was made previously (when I was running a 3.3.x build) from the Fiio site @ https://www.fiio.com/x5iii "2 Modes of Charging to Quickly Get Back Up and Running The X5 3rd gen contains a 3.8V 3400mAh battery that provides more than 10 hours of playing time. But...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Interesting - I'll look into that (though as it takes a fair while to re-copy 12,000 songs across to the smaller of the two cards I'll wait a while before I try it). Though thinking about it, are you suggesting that the FAT32 format might not be recognized in general in external_sd1 by the new...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Tried number 1 but there's no way I'm spending anymore time on steps 2 or 3 when earlier versions (3.3.2, 3.31 and 3.1) never displayed this problem - sorry, I just don't have that sort of time. Both cards were Fat32 and were formatted by the SD Association SD card formatter. And just to...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Sounds a lot (exactly the same perhaps) as my external_sd1 issue with 3.4.1 (further up the page). I even went as far as popping the card into sd1 after it had booted and settled down, and got the same freeze-up (it was fine trying this unorthadox approach in sd2, with files being happily read)...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    I didn't have this trouble with 3.32 (just the scary overheating - I think I posted up about the first overheating issue I had with one version IIRC but I never reported the second) and my player is working fine at the moment with the stock 1.2.5 install so I can only conclude that it's an issue...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    After a second overheating scare I thought I'd give this development a wide berth until a significant change so I was keen to try the latest great bit of work, however I seem to have hit a snag. My first wipe to the stock 1.2.1 and subsequent updates left me with a device that didn't like using...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    My rusty electronics memory seems to recall that P(watts)=I*V (amps*volts) and 12.92W does equal 3400mA*3.8V - maybe the 4.3V is a max charging voltage? Anyway, a search on the US eBay site for 'aec battery 3.8v 3400' gave some promising results but I'm really no expert, though I can say that I...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Hmm, where should I be looking for this? I only see on a FiiO logo on the back panel (the front, or face(?) is all plastic touchscreen) Agreed, I game a lot (despite my age ;-) ) and benchmarks aren't perfect, but those two examples are certainly interesting.

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Ah, thanks. I see that there's a NB ref in the 'About Device' that says L211a and that link you posted mentions a L311a (typo perhaps, or coincidence?). Is there any way to tell what they are inside (other than opening up) or how to tell supported clock speeds? Will this kernel, even at the...

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    Ah, it was a 'smart charger' (didn't FiiO say they supported these) which hadn't been an issue before but that does sound a possibility - thanks

    Fiio X5iii Custom Kernel and Scripts | 2016MHz CPU | 20% RAM increase | Undervolting | New DAC drivers | and much more

    I'm new to all this but today I upgraded my X5iii with the Purist 1.2.4 and the v.v32 kernel (running at 1416) but wow did it get hot when Iwas scanning for music/charging! (this thing needs a heatsink!). So the SD Cards came out and it went in the fridge for 5 minutes and now I'm back with the...

    Balanced cable for HD600

    A little update: I reflected on the comments above and then threw caution to the wind and bought a rather affordable custom cable from Venture Electronics (about 43 USD or £33 incl. p+p). It turned up considerably quicker than the estimated 5 weeks (arrived in 10 days!) and I've done a couple of...

    Venture Electronics Custom Balanced HD600 Cable

    I went for a fairly similar cable for my HD600s - but simply terminated into a TRRS 2.5mm and in Blue/Silver. 43.40 USD, or £32. Ordered on the 1st Sep and it turned up yesterday 12th Sep - not bad considering the anticipated turnaround. 4ft is a good length too. FYI I did do a Google image...
