Haven't try'ed it without the screw but did change from the two holed screw to a regular slotted screw. Try the dt 480s they have the same driver as the 48's but are in a different housing, a bit more musical sounding to me. Alas beyer discontinued the DT 48's

Beyer DT 48 and 480's are like fine scotch, an aquired taste.

Yes I bought a little dot III with the idea of warming up My DT 480 which are a little more musical then the DT 48s But I also use with my DT48s I use a CLAS as my source With lossless rips. I wonder if BH will ever get more 48's in stock?

I bought 2 pairs for my mom. Sisters boyfriend stole the first pair. You really could roll those things up and stick em in your pocket. Wish I still had them today for my portable rig. We called them golf balls.
